Strange New Worlds 10

"Signal to Noise" Good, but confusing for me. I'm not familiar with the Jack character, or what episode he's from.

Jack was in two Deep Space Nine episodes: "Statistical Probabilities" and "Chrysalis." Benny was introduced in the DS9 episode "Far Beyond the Stars."

Thanks for the review!

Okay, this thread is several years old, but...

"Universal Chord" Some interesting insights into 22nd century society and music scene, but story never really went anywhere. I felt like the Star Trek connection was pretty flimsy.

All in all, I thought this was one of the best SNW volumes. It's too bad this series had to come to an end.

Finally somebody got it :techman:
Thank you for reading and reviewing :)

"You Are Not In Space" Good, readable Hoshi story. I was kind of hoping for a more rousing conclusion.
Thanks for reviewing the anthology! :)

I'm sorry the conclusion didn't do more for you, but I'm glad you enjoyed the story overall, and I always appreciate it when someone reviews a collection like this story by story...

In other SNW 10 news, I wrote to all of the book retailers in Winnipeg a few weeks before the release of the new movie to let them know about this anthology and its "local connection" to the Star Trek franchise, in the hopes that they might stock up on it again.

I haven't been able to check everywhere yet, but the Chapters bookstore chain allows you to search for titles at all locations in the area, and on my last check, there were now seven new copies of Strange New Worlds 10 available. :D

Thanks to the authors for their responses and for being very good sports. I should note that a number of my complaints are just trying to point out differences between the perfectly good stories and the great stories (which sometimes hinged on whether or not I'd seen an episode)

I just realized that I still haven't read my copy of SNWX. Talk about being behind the curve...
Well, then, get on it! ;)

You always write detailed, thoughtful reviews of both novels and anthologies, so I'd love to read your thoughts on SNW 10...

This second post in a row (albeit three weeks later) is only for the purposes of bumping this thread, as long as SNW in general is a topic of conversation elsewhere at the moment. ;)
