I ask how this impacts the interaction with the show and its quality?

Honestly, I think the Internet exists for people just to have arguments now.

? Interaction with the show and its quality are off-topic, and there are no arguments here, only my clarification of the poll in light of perfectly reasonable feedback that a consensus may not be reached, which is why it’s best to focus on the easier question of how the official acronym will be generated.

Enjoy then

I use:
TOS, TAS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT, DSC, PIC
TMP, TWOK, TSFS, TVH, TFF, TUC, GEN, FC, INS, NEM, 2009, ID, BEY

But I think CBS will go with PCD, if VGR is any indication. Memory Alpha, which uses DIS, will probably go with PIC. I'm pretty sure they'll be more consistent with their abbreviation schemes than I am, where I just go with whatever I think looks better in each case.

A acronym for Picard might take years to be sorted out. Fans of Discovery still haven't reach a agreement after two years between DIS and DSC.

PCD strikes me as more reasonable due to "PIC" being short hand of picture in current slang.

Sure, but I’m saying the problem can be simplified to what TPTB would like us to use. (To me at least, DIS sounds a bit awkward for obvious reasons, whereas DSC should be pronounced “Disco” anyway, like the shuttle call sign prefix.)

can we save PIC for the day we finally get Star Trek: Picardo?
He's way ahead of you:

I guess a fan made it, but he reposted on his twitter :)

"Ting," I believe, is the standard pronunciation of TNG, at least everytime I hear it (outside the few who go letter-by-letter for some reason). DS9 is two syllables ("Dees-Nine"), usually. I'm trying to use it with one syllable, but it doesn't work right. DSC is just one syllable ("Disc"), so it's impossible to go fewer.

I have to agree with others, I have never heard the acronyms pronounced this way. I've only ever heard TNG pronounced as three separate letters, T-N-G. Or, Next Gen or Next Generation. DS9 has always been D-S-nine. Similarly, TOS has always been "T-O-S"...the only two that I've heard pronounced as words themselves are VOY and ENT. And I've spent an entire week trapped with thousands of Trekkies on a cruise ship.

Seriously, though, I'm personally tired of acronym fights. I avoid them in general discourse with regards to one-word shows. It's TOS, TAS, TNG, DS9, then Voyager, Enterprise, Discovery, and now Picard.

Like: "The latest Picard episode was just like my favorite TNG episode." "What was the name of the Yeoman in last night's Discovery episode? Wasn't she in TOS?" "Enterprise did better with Section 31 than Discovery, but not as well as DS9."

I like that approach. Would you use S31 for the Georgiou show if it ended up being called Star Trek: Section 31?
