I don't really think the fact that he was using a word-processor to write stories for a show that came out before word preocessors were invented is really ironic.

The voice-over monkey says "ironically, word processors didn't exist when the first episode of Star Trek was written in 1966".
There isn't anything ironic about that.

Que?
We got our first Xerox word processors at my work in 1983. We had a Compugraphic in the late 70s.

Probably not ironic, but it is worth noting that the passage of time enabled STNG to use technology not available when TOS was on the air when it was a futuristic show and probably not even hinted at on the show itself. Hell there are electronics available NOW in 2007 that look more futuristic than what STNG used on the air....laptops are smaller, PDAs are thinner....Wesley used what was basically a digital voice recorder that looked as bulky as something from TOS in the first season, when such items are a 1/2 the sizr of a palm now.

The way I rationalised Enterprise was to simply imagine Captain Archer and his crew never existed.Nardpuncher said:The way I rationalize that for Trek is to think that a PADD from TNG would be thousands of times more powerful that things that are already smaller now.
I did that with Enterprise also. That's why Archer can have a smaller communicator than Kirk. Kirk's was hundreds of times more powerful. And it had cooler games and ring-tones.
