Stewart Hamlet on PBS

Shouldn't the title be 'Tennant Hamlet?' Sir Patrick is a little old to play the Dane (as Withnail's Uncle Monty almost said).
But apparently he also plays the Ghost, and Hamlet's late father was, I believe, also named Hamlet, so you might say that Stewart plays Hamlet. :D

They have got to get Sir Patrick to appear on Doctor Who!!
It's been rumored that Timothy Dalton's role in Tennant's finale was first offered to Stewart.

And Stewart was considered for a role in "Arc of Infinity." Another actor considered for "Arc of Infinity" was Pierce Brosnan.

Did they ever film the Stewart 'negative' Othello, in which he was a white Othello, surrounded by an all-black cast?
Sadly, no.

I wish they had. Stewart as the Moor? Ron Canada as Iago? That would have been something to behold.

^ Wasn't Stewart up for the role of the Meddling Monk?

Also, what happened to the rumors of him and Ian McKellen doing a new film version of The Merchant of Venice but set in modern day Las Vegas?

Was Stewart acting in '65 or '66? Peter Butterworth was a known quantity. Stewart would have been a genuine unknown at the time.

Or are you referring to the Sun's rumors that Stewart will be the Meddling Monk in the fifth season? That one's been trotted out a few times the past few years. No one puts any stock in the Sun. :)

I meant NOW.
That was not obvious from the context.

You asked if he was up for the role of Meddling Monk. That was cast in '66 for "The Time Meddler." There's no casting for that role now.

Yes, Who fans keep speculating that the Monk is going to return. Hell, John Simm was thought to be playing the Monk for a while there.

I'm really looking forward to this. Two of my favorite actors on screen together in a Shakespeare play? That's worth watching just on it's own.
