Steeler world

I dont care how you attempt to break down my posts you two lost. You where proven wrong and cannot deal. I bet you before they started winning you could get season tickets very easily now you cant cause they are on top. I hate cheaters period and I don't even watch sportscenter. so you don't know what you speak of. And who give a fuck about the number 3 sport in america behind nascar and football. I have respect for people who stick with their team through thick and thin. I belive you and your friend are wagoners in this case. The only reason you all came in here was to bash me and my team. I work with a guy who was die hard pats fan from boston. Now he has renounced his fandom because oif the cheating that was done. So go ahead pick this one apart too. You still got proven wrong. Your team is still a bunch of cheating s.o.b.s. See you game time this season.

P.S. No hard feelings. I am sure there are some things on which the 3 of us can agree football and fandom just is not it.

All I can respond to this post is with a :rolleyes: and a :guffaw::guffaw:

Man killing the Steelers this year is gonna be so much sweeter after knowing it will upset you guys.:techman:

I wont be able to stop laughing after we stomp that mudhole and walk it dry.
How big are those crows in philly? Do you even show your pats fandom there or are you scared?

Crows aren't big here, but I won't be eating any. Really, the Pats are still the best team in the NFL at the moment....deal with it.

And yes, I do show my Pats fandom, I wear my Pats sweatshirt and T-shirt, and even my Pats hat. And I even have some very informative and entertaining conversations with a cook at a local grill about the NFL in general, the Pats and the Eagles. They are usually realistic analysis of the teams, and not some fanboy version of the team we get from yourself.

Sorry you cannot handle the truth. Shame really. You want realistic huh? Hows this?

The patriot defense is older than john mccain by football standards. While they do have a good offense I wonder if Randy Mosses personality issues will resurface and start to hurt the team? How much where they helped/hurt by the whole spygate scandle? Won't know until season is over and where they finish. I do know that the rep of their org has been damaged and can translate down on to the field. Alot of fans question their championships. period.

Steelers:

Their Defense will be solid against the run as usual but they have some questions in the secondary and with the depth of their d-line. If Poulamolu(sp) and Clark can come back at full stength the over all d will be close to it's near standard.
Offensively they added firepower with a big wr and a power running back. How much of a contribution they will make again we wont know until the season is over. The offensive line was a joke late last season and Rothlisburger still put up some best numbers for a steelers qb ever finishing in the top 5 in qb rating might have been ahead of brady. I do not have those stats in front of me.

In the confrence both teams still have the colts to deal with and up and comers jacksonville and clevland as well as the chargers.

Don't go there with me. Just cause I defend my fandom does not mean I do not know the game.

P.S. By the way the pats aren't the best team in the NFL the New York Giants are they won the super bowl.

He defended that team and got his glote on in The house that Rooney built. I have respect for him after the abuse he took from the rest of us at work. The scandle is what ended it for him I don't think anything else would have. Another co-worker from england a Man U fan has called the steelers the american equivilant(sp) in fandom to Manchester. He is also a steeler fan.

Yeah, well, I don't know about that, but Manchester United sucks ass anyway.
Btw. the players of the club I'm a fan of could rape a class of elementary school girls and I'd still support the club (although not the players obviously). Some thing like what Belichik and his crew did would have absolutely no impact on my love to the club, and anyone who says otherwise wasn't a fan to begin with imo.

I hear you. I ask myself the same thing about my love of team sometimes. The only way I will no longer be a steeler fan is if they where to leave town.

I give all the credit in the world to the Giants, I do. They played their asses off and beat the Pats fair and square in the Superbowl. But guess what...they were not the best team in the NFL last year, the Pats were, and if you are gonna argue that they were not, then you are wrong. They lost the wrong game at the wrong time, but they were the best team in the league last year. The numbers support that, and thats a fact. Sometimes the best team in the league doesn't win the Championship.

And I did not say the Pats won't have competition, or problems, next year. No team is perfect, everyone has problems. But they are overall, still the best team in the league. Your prediction earlier of them going 8-8 earlier in the thread is laughable at best, proves more, and that maybe you are more afraid of the Pats then you are showing.

I fear no team. It's football on any givin sunday anyone can be beaten. The pats did win all of their reg season games but the scandal puts a damper on what should have been the greatest season ever. Now that season forever wears an asterix. Until spygate broke I was willing to concede and say they where up there with the steelers dynasty of the 70's. Which one was better would have been up for some great arguments but now all anyone will have to do is say spygate and the pats argument is over. What kills me is the scheduling this year. some how the pats end up with the easiest and the steelers end up with the hardest. Go figure. The pats better run away with it playing in the weakest division in football if they don't that will just fuel those like me who think they needed to cheat to win their rings.

clearly, that's why you keep ignoring the opposing points and just declaring victory anyway ;)

More proof you don't quite understand the issue. Even a little bit. You can attempt to argue for an asterix over previous seasons if you like, but in the 2007-2008 season, they were watched VERY heavily, and went 18-1 without cheating. Which part of that gets the asterix? Afraid they beat all those teams fair and square.

Until spygate broke I was willing to concede and say they where up there with the steelers dynasty of the 70's.
Just gonna call bs on this one, if how you've presented the rest of your argument is any example.

What kills me is the scheduling this year. some how the pats end up with the easiest and the steelers end up with the hardest.
Already making excuses why the Steelers will struggle and the Pats will be back in the playoffs, huh? Thought you weren't afraid? ;)

Go figure. The pats better run away with it playing in the weakest division in football
Only truthful thing you've said in several pages of posts. The AFC East is pretty weak right now, it definitely favors the Pats. Not their fault that the Dolphins, Jets, and Bills all suck, though...

if they don't that will just fuel those like me who think they needed to cheat to win their rings.
They went 18-1 without cheating, breaking just about every record in the books offensively, and it didn't appear to change your opinion. How can you argue that their play on the field NEXT year could change it?

By the way, that "older than McCain" Pats defense was ranked 4th overall in the league last year. They allowed an average of 0.3 points per game more than the Steelers (and won 6 more games). How does that factor into your rant? They also used a top-10 draft pick to snag themselves a pretty good LB (and actually, their entire draft was defense), so that kinda kills the rest of what you were attempting to say...

No scout it is you not me. They went 18 - 1 by cheating their asses off. hence when they started getting watched about the time the ravens almost beat them. They could barely do anything offensivly and their point total mdropped dramaticly. Please let go of tom bradys jock. they cheated they got caught and they lost when it counted most. You don't know the game of football. That much is for certan. Go watch the red sox and hush.

So unless we lay down and kiss the feet of the "all great steelers" we don't know football?

Are you kidding me? Stop being such a biased ass and listen to the facts that are being presented, even though they fuck over your argument. The spygate scandal broke at the very beginning of the season, in the first game. After that they were watched like a HAWK the rest of the season. The reason they were one defensive play away from going 19-0 was an offense the took the record books and spanked them, and a defense that was still capable of doing its job, while it is getting old, not some cheating scandal. Please, if you polled 100 Steelers fans if they would rather have Tom Brady, a future hall of fame QB, or Ben, based only on numbers, and not on fan bias, 99 out the 100 would take Brady, and you would be the only one bitching about it.

Atleast get your facts straight if you are gonna make an argument, and post one of your so called "victories" over us. No wonder my father had me grow up hating the steelers, its fans like you who can't look at a situation objectively.

And watching the Red Sox is fun, still one of, if not the best team in the MLB, and current defending champions, sure.

They got caught 4 minutes into the first game of the year, against the Jets. If you think they kept doing it AFTER that (even though Bellichick met with the comish and got fined almost instantly), you're just making things up, and not even covering the same ground as anyone else harping over it. Proof?

And again, while we're at it: Stealing signals isn't cheating, every team tries to do it. They only cheated by using a videocamera to record the signals for later. It isn't the sort of thing you can use DURING a game (even the ESPN talking heads eventually grudgingly gave that one up), and a guy with binoculars would be faster if you needed results during a game. Notice how none of the other teams are coming out against them? It's because of the whole "throwing stones in glass houses" theory, they don't want anyone investigating THEIR video archives...

hence when they started getting watched about the time the ravens almost beat them.
 you CAN'T be serious! But sadly, you are, aren't you? It's your expert opinion that even though the Spygate scandal broke out in Week 1, no one was watching the Patriots, and they continued to cheat until Week 13? Seriously? ANY proof of that? Hell, I'd even consider it if you could link to ANYWHERE on the internet other than your post just now that claims that. That's just stupid.

Makes it even MORE fun, though, that the Pats beat the Steelers in Week 14, though (with a 34-13 stomping), because that happened on a week where even YOU admit they were being watched, and no possible cheating could have taken place.:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

I hate the Patriots because they win a lot, and my teams don't. Well, sure, Philly teams win to a point, but then ultimately lose. I'm looking at you, Flyers. It gets extremely painful year in and year out. The cheating was cheating, but let's be honest - it was also utterly irrelevant. This year. Luckily, our beloved senator and American Hero, Arlen Specter, is looking into the 2004 Super Bowl on behalf of all Eagles fans. Thank you, senator, for this completely necessary investigation.

Then I also hate the Steelers. You see, Pittsburgh is a vastly inferior city to Philadelphia. Everyone from Philadelphia knows this. I went to Pittsburgh once, and driving on the turnpike it went farm, farm, farm, farm, diner, city. In Philly, it goes farm, farm, Amish farm, Valley Forge, five dozen exits for Philadelphia, bridge to Jersey. True story. Then, everyone makes a big deal about how hard it is to spell Monongahela, but we have the freakin' Schuylkill River and NOBODY can spell that. Once again, Philadelphia wins. But despite our clear superiority, Pittsburgh teams win things and Philadelphia ones don't. There is something inherently wrong with that.

In summary: I hate both the Steelers and the Patriots, but not for any rational reasons.

It's embarrassing to live in the same state as Pittsburgh and I won't stand for it any longer. I say we sell the western third of PA to Ohio and then annex Delaware and south Jersey to form a new state. That way we don't have to deal with your former football players running for governor, and you can't complain about Rendell covering Eagles PostGame Live every Sunday. Best of all, Pittsburghers would be charged out-of-state tuition to attend Penn State and I wouldn't have to deal with Steelers fans anymore. See, it all works out for the best!

^
 Must be from Philly.

* *

Pittsburgh born and bred. My ancestry in Pittsburgh goes back to at least 1830 and my ancestry in Western Pennsylvania goes back to at least 1770 when it was still the frontier.

I am a Pirates fan. Came in when they were ascending (I started following sports in 1970 when I was 12.) I am still a Pirates fan, even though they have sucked for years. I was fortunate enough to live in Pgh during the '79 series and I went to 2 of 3 games and I was poor! I even flew home for the playoffs one year after I was down here and had series tickets, but we didn't make it that year.

Secondly, I love the Steelers. They are a part and parcel of Pittsburgh. I never could see them when I lived home (tickets were hard to get and I was poor) but I've seen them each time they came down to Miami, including one time a day after a hurricane (the tail end of which drenched us at the game.) When I go home, I love to see everyone decked out in Steeler shirts and jackets.

I love the Penguins. I missed the Mario era. I saw them play years ago when they sucked.

And I'm a Pitt Panther fan, truly a tough fanship. I was a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh when we took the National Championship. And that was our last good year, alas!

I'm not as much into sports as I was as I've become disillusioned. I rarely go to games anymore (until the Marlins sold off their winning team, I used to go and see them here in Fort Lauderdale), either local or my home team. Once in a while I'll follow them, but not like I used to do.

But I still like 'em all. I bleed Pittsburgh black and gold. I may never live there again, but I'll love my city and its teams until I'm planted.

Take Delaware, but you can't have the Jersey Shore.

^Yes, we can.

I don't really hate the Steelers or Pirates. The Penguins, though...shame they didn't get shipped off to Kansas City.

Being an avid Steeler's fan is about the only Pittsburgh pride I show openly. They are what is right in professional sports, the ownership isn't obsessed with money they are obsessed with winning, and respecting the integrity of the game.

As a Jets fan, I'm used to this. But it's too bad that the Giants didn't just win the Super Bowl.

Oh wait...
Too bad the steelers haven't got a ring for each finger,

oh wait...
