STC: To Boldly Indiegogo

Thanks for the update, Greg.:cool::cool::cool::cool:

We specified that the Engineering Room is the Lexington's, not the Enterprise's because 1) the first time we see this built-out set in "Torment of Destiny" is not actually onboard the Enterprise--just as the first time we saw the newly built-out Engineering Room set in the Second Season TOS episode "The Doomsday Machine," it was actually the Constellation's Engine Room when we first saw it, not the Enterprise's and 2) we didn't want people to say "look!--that "x-y-z" thing is the wrong color or that "a-b-c" thing is not the exact right shape or orientation." This was the Lexington's Engine Room, and was supposed to look slightly different from the Enterprise's--just like there are set peculiarities to the Engine Room set on the Constellation. You don't think the Constellation's set was identical to the Enterprise's do you?

Also, the Dilithium Chamber Converter Assembly is coming along:

If they have finished, are there any pics? I only see a single pic of what is tagged as "the Lexington Engine Room" from Torment of Destiny. I don't understand the "Lexington" reference. Are they building a separate but identical "Enterprise" engine room? (Of course I'm joking, but it's the question of why specify the ship?) It doesn't look like there are side alcoves (warp core and entrance control room) due to space, but its hard to tell from that angle.

So it looks like a mostly new crew of actors for P2 again. I hope that this time around, Gross grows on me, but so far he is definitely not hitting the right notes for me as Kirk. The new Chekov and Sulu look like they could be fun. I wish they had kept the McCoy from the unaired version of Mindsifter, he was a great Bones!

Well, I don't know about "mostly" new actors. "Torment of Destiny" has Brian Gross in his fourth full outing with us as Kirk. Brandon Stacy is Spock for his seventh time. Jeff Bond is McCoy for his third time. Charles Root is Scotty for his twelfth time. Shyaporn Theerakulstit is our Sulu for his third episode. Brian Tubbs makes his debut as Chekov--after having played Gary Mitchell in our still-in-process "Origins: The Protracted Man" episode. So none of them are really rookies with us.

It looks like their contributions have almost stalled over the past few days. At the current rate they will come up quite short for their base target. They will have to do something to generate more interest and support.

Considering the buzz and generally favourable view of STC it's a bit worrisome to see the funding support seem to dry up so quickly.

Yes they still don't have some perks that made them money last time. There is no "theme" video or even an update video. I would be surprised greatly if those things did not change during the last 30 days of the drive.

We're in a post-Axanar era. I have to imagine some people are a little gun-shy to donate if they think other shows could get smacked down with a C&D. Whether the actual odds are high for a C&D or not, it still increased perceived risk.

They had well over 2600 donors last year. It is a bit troubling. I wouldn't be surprised if the publicity over Axanar is having an effect, since the average person may not even know there's more than one group making fan films.

Well, the good news is Alec Peters has been enough of a loudmouth asshole about his hatred for Vic and Continues that most people who would be likely to donate probably are well informed enough to know that Continues isn't part of the Axanar circle-jerk.

Hindsight I think EP6 should have premiered in the middle of this fund drive with a big fat intro from Vic about the drive and tax deduction at the beginning.

They need to do something different, the pitch really lacks energy and Vic looks totally burnt out. They need to rethink it.

It's still early days though? People may wait for paycheck day? Isn't there usually a rush in the last few days?

Thanks for the corrections. I thought the link I followed said that Chekov and Sulu were both new. There are only 2 released "Gross" episodes, and one of them he's not exactly playing a sane Kirk, so this would be 2nd real appearance to me, and for some reason I thought it would be only the 2nd appearance for the new McCoy, as well, since for some reason I thought John Kelly's last episode was mindsifter.
