Stay-at-Home Thread

My dad had the same doctor for 25 years. When my dad went into the hospital the last time and died, the doc was on vacation. We never heard anything from him.
That's sad. I had the same doctor for 31 years until he retired. I recently learned from my doctor who took over his practice that he recently died. I didn't even know he was sick. We stayed in touch after he retired and he never said anything.

Wow, 31 years is a long time. I'm sorry for your loss.

I have been doing okay mostly. I have had good days and bad. But finding out that I won't be able to spend time with my mom for 2 more whole months (she lives in a senior place and with the 2 months that will be over 5 months now) and that our pastor who is leaving, won't be able to go to church and see her either. I finally lost it and cried. I haven't this whole time. But that was just the limit you know. I was wondering if there was anything wrong with me because I didn't cry up until this Sunday. But then I did! Anyone else get news like this or having problems?

My aunt’s funeral is tomorrow and it has to be streamed because of limitations on the size of funerals. I have not seen my aunt all that much in the last 50 years though I knew her well when I was a child. The last time I saw her was at my mother’s funeral in 2011. I think that is sad that my cousins cannot give her the send off they would have wanted for her.

She did not die of Covid 19.

^^^ Of my parents’ generation, only one aunt is now still alive. It won’t be that long before it is my generation the family will be starting to say goodbye to.

I miss my family old school generation
Remember the family gatherings at New Year
Brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles
It's only my dad left from the old school.

Beaches are, to put it mildly, not my thing.

(Except for Coney Island. That's as close as I get.)

And to be honest, it's for the best, at least for me. Better to be a child of the big city than a son of a beach. ;)

The garbage and recycling receptacles that I share with the other tenants in my building are filling up way faster than they used to when everybody was at work all the time and thus disposing of food packaging, bottles and cans, etc. at the workplace during the daytime. I end up having to pile up recyclables in my house for several days until the waste is picked up and the containers are empty again.
