Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

the most popular vanity shield seems to be the Section 31 one, based off the hull material of the S31 Discovery ships.

Because it makes no logical sense in-universe.
Nothing in the game's dialogue or lore blogs have ever pointed out that vanity shields or warp FX (except ones tied to specific ships) are an in-universe thing.
It's a piece of technology, just like the charm that turns your character into a cat, or the Kahless beacon, or anything Mudd sells on his market. It doesn't have to be mentioned in dialog, it's right there.

Yes. Want to make your ship look assimilated? There's a shield for that.

Good grief.

In STO (non canon, I know), the warp effect depends on the person, not the ship. An officer from the 2250s makes their ship jump like in DSC, whereas a 25th century officer has the TNG-era effect. Perhaps it is a matter of perception?
You mean it depends on what they were smoking that day?

I continue to insist that Captain Seven should have been given a size upgrade to Odyssey-class for her well-deserved promotion.

And having the Enterprise-F launch in 2402, similar to its STO origin in 2409, would give more breathing room for the G, H, and I before the J. The A and D's short tenures are not good writing precedents to repeat when the J is supposed to be around circa 2554.
