Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

So, about those starship designs in Star Trek:Picard…

Love the new class the Intrepid was, looks like the early 90's Constitution class kitbashes people made from the AMT 1/535 kits.

The ships at Daystrom were...okay, the proportions are odd.

I’m a bit disappointed that the Trumbull was a Duderstadt class, but I get the reasoning. I was hoping based on its registry that it would have been either a Bradbury or a Nova class.

Yes. Amen. Testify!
The early years of DragonCon (I went every year from 1999 until 2019)

The local game shop with friends.(Somewhere my Captain Meredith Ford and his ship, the Miranda Class USS Resolute still fly. I understand there is a Resolute in of of the games now...)

Whatever other local gathering or convention you could find!

Ah, conventions. Even my little local ones were nuts.

The Echelon class reminds me of this old Miranda class concept:

Well, it does raise the question why a 23rd century Constitution class starship in Picard looks so different to the 23rd century Enterprise depicted in Strange New Worlds if they're supposed to exist in the same timeline...

I think The Rock says it best here....

I keep an eye on Edge of Midnight and its chief author over on Twitter myself, and frankly, their gap-filling project is a load of fun to read.
There's another similar fan-fic project I'm enjoying, an oral history of Wolf 359. They've been posting preview chapters on their Facebook for the last few days. Their adaptation of Shaw's story from a couple episodes ago into an interview with a historian was really good, really nicely fleshed out while keeping the spirit (TV writers; I know it makes more work for legal clearances, but please use names when characters are telling stories from their past, it's good for verisimilitude).

What he says sounds like a lame dismissal about peoples legitimate complaints towards the various NuTrek production crews lack of care when it comes to visual design (and various producers caring more about changing things to leave their mark over whether or not something needs to change). Its not the fans job to head canon things into working, its the shows job to actually give enough of a shit about the franchise to not randomly change shit for no reason (like DSC/SNW did). The USS New Jersey is a real Constitution Class starship because the people working on PIC Season 3 knew they couldn't use the DSC stuff in their nostalgia museum, because absolutely no one has any nostalgia for the Discoprise. The Enterprise-A looks normal for the same reason.

Now, I do honestly think that some people working on Picard season 3 actually care and probably even prefer the original designs anyway, but if this Fleet Museum wasn't in the show to give them a reason to use the real designs they would probably never have been allowed to contradict SNW. There is no in universe explanation for any of this, and Matalas basically whining about how his show's fucking stupid use of the word "refit" gets complaints just makes him look like an ass. If he doesn't like people complaining about all the refit talk, he should just admit that they throw the word "refit" out in situations where there is literally no way it fits, like trying to say that the new Stargazer was a refit last season.
