Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

STO is getting the World Razer. Using Sean Tourangeau's original concept art as a basis for the parts you can't see in the painting

Sean's concept art says NCC-2101-D, but the final painting has no visible registry number, so I guess STO is allowed to do what they want.

In Sean’s concept art, the registry is NCC-2101-D. Sean says he was given that number by Geoffrey Mandel.

There’s an old TOS Gold Key comic featuring an alternate timeline earth, their enterprise had the registry ‘2101’. I wonder if Geoffrey was a fan of that comic

In my headcanon, the Confederation's ship was the CSS World Razer NCC-2101-D. Picard-Prime couldn't make out the registry on the painting but recognized the ship as a counterpart to his 2360s-era USS Enterprise-D.
The replica built by Starfleet is the CSS World Razer NCC-1701-D.

In the book 'Dark Mirror' Picard encounters the Terran Empire Enterprise D. Same basic configuration but the saucer was deeper and the secondary hull was larger. A good amount of the interior was weapons and ordinance. Also the badges were not comm units but agonizors.

It actually made the MU boring.

Squandered opportunities - they could have reskinned the MU CGI Defiant to make it look like it was built in haste from whatever resources they could scrounge up instead of painting it to look identical ro the Starfleet version right down to a meaningless hull number. It was a ship being built in a hurry to protect the station, I would bee fine seeing dangling widesxand even a stepladder on the bridge instead of perfect fit and finish.

Not that I’m disagreeing with your logic, but the point was to use the production assets they already had, rather than making new sets and CGI models. But you make a valid point.

I took that into consideration. The CGI mesh they had doesn't get changed, you just swap out the Star Fleet skin file with silver. You don't need to alter the bridge set, just dress it up with some cables and random junk. This would have sold the premise of the MU Defiant so much better.
