He's busy working on The Orville S3.I've said it before: Drexler.
Doug would give us some beautiful late 24th century starship designs. I wish he'd get hired but I won't hold my breath.
Yeah, JJ & his lackeys aren't the right people for these franchises IMO.
Ryan Dening is one of the people newly hired who never worked on the franchise before. He designed the NCIA-93, for instance.
It does, of course, beg the question of *which* Enterprise they will choose to have in 2399 and right now the answer to that has to be “Who knows...?!” — but my guess is that, from a story point of view, they will likely want to make it the 1701-E as there is no reason why it shouldn’t still be in service and, rather more importantly, it’s the ship Picard once commanded — and that gives them something very specific and important to work with that a new but essentially “sterile” 1701-F just wouldn’t have.
I think I’d be happy enough to see what a 25-year refit of the Enterprise-E might look like, as long as they don’t dash it off at the last minute again!
I don't have issues with the Odyssey or Luna classes. So that may be your particular take on those classes. And for heaven's sake, don't let the fans design it. That's how we got those awful non-canon Odyssey and Luna classes.
no kidding. Many fans dislike the Kelvin timeline ships.
I have far less issues with Discovery's Crossfield class then the new JJ-Prise.point is, they're distinct and new. and most fans dislike them because of that.
I would take most of the Kelvin designs over the PIC and DSC designs. I would take the JJ Enterprise for the ugly Discovery.no kidding.
point is, they're distinct and new. and most fans dislike them because of that.
That monstrosity Eaves designed for the finale was a real low point.
The showrunners/Secret Hideout are obsessed with this thinking that filling the screen with stuff makes that scene memorable and compelling. It doesn't. I wish they would stop. It didn't work in season 2 opener of Discovery, it definitely didn't work in that ludicrous season 2 finale, and it didn't work in the Picard finale. Not exclusive to Trek, Rise of Skywalker fell in the same trap (but JJ has even less of a clue how to do space action than anything on New Trek, don't get me started how bad he is at it)
Now that we've got a clear look at it, I think it looks like a cross between the Sovereign Class and the Intrepid Class with juuuust a hint of NX-01 or the Akira Class if we want to stick to the 24th Century.
Exactly. Also, I really don't think Chabon was all that interested in the fleet; the episode wasn't really structured to make that "memorable and compelling" per se. It was structured to make the human drama the focus, not the spaceships.
It's not the same ship though, it only looks vaguely similar. Now that we've got a clear look at it, I think it looks like a cross between the Sovereign Class and the Intrepid Class with juuuust a hint of NX-01 or the Akira Class if we want to stick to the 24th Century.
Those ships are really fucking ugly.I think the Dish is actually on top, NX-01 style
