Here it is from behindLove the ramscoops! And the glowing wings. Is there a separate stern glow for impulse engines, or are the wings supposed to be It?

That new (old) BOP is really pretty! Someone has been doing their homework.
DISCO producers - TAKE FUCKING NOTE!

I was surprised to see them use a classic old school Romulan BoP, it looked pretty spot on but seemed out of place in the year 2399.Yeah, a TOS ship looking more TOS in (almost) the 25th century than most of what we saw on Discovery. I don't get that worked up over it, but they could've done better on that front.
Entirely possible but I would have thought all the ships would have been used for the rescue, there was no way the Romulan Star Empire would be able to survive the loss of their home system. It could simply be that the majority of the D'Deridex (sp) and Valdore type warbirds were either destroyed, trying to secure the far flung remains of the empire, or otherwise committed so the Romulans had to drag some antiques out of storage?
Those Warbirds were enormous ships, much larger than even the Enterprise D. I think a Warbird would be too big a threat this early in the story.I was surprised to see them use a classic old school Romulan BoP, it looked pretty spot on but seemed out of place in the year 2399.
Why not one of the older 2360 era Warbird designs to really amp up the risk factor, I never really felt they were in any danger as soon as I saw it was an antique even though I am sure it has been upgraded.

I have only seen the BoP in screenshots posted here but the first thing that came to mind was "where the hell did they find that old boat" and second "its not very threatening because of it".
Dont get me wrong it looks great but its a bit too out of place, it would be like having the Discoprise turning up in 2399.
I can roll with it though.
Well it's like the ST:O story about how the Constitution Class was revived during the Dominion War due to a shortage of ships and then was kept on because the Federation suddenly rediscovered how amazing the design was...

It would have added to the threat making it realistic for Picard to have to leave asap. Those Warbirds were enormous ships, much larger than even the Enterprise D. I think a Warbird would be too big a threat this early in the story.
Perhaps, but it's still better than the TOS Enterprise. That’s worse than the Discoprise and the Abramsprise combined.
