Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

I wonder why they didn't use the Enterprise D model that was seen in the PIC trailer? If at least the ships had been Galaxy-class instead of DIS tugs and Magees, the reused shuttles, work bees, and spacedock wouldn't have been as glaring.

By the way, I remember Eaglemoss stating that the release of their USS Emmet Till model has been delayed because John Eaves wanted to revise it once more to bring it in line with the visual style of PIC. That gives me hope that we'll see at least one new Federation ship after all.

If - as the early reports seem to suggest - there are no Starfleet ships in at least the first three episodes, it's a lot more understandable that no assets were ready in time for Children of Mars.

I'll just imagine it looked like this.

Well, the ships were supposed to be under construction (despite factually not being that, alas). Probably there would indeed be some paint and cowlings still to come...

Is it true John Eaves is working on this series’ starship designs?

Yes, his official website says so:

I must say, it's somewhat interesting to see everyone excited to see TOS Romulan ships in the trailers, and happily accepting whatever assumptions fans are creating about as to why they're being used, but the sight of equally old DIS ships is sending everyone off on one.

Since it looks like they've built a new CG model for the Bird-of-Prey, I still have hope that there's a specific reason why the Romulans still use that design.

Yup. And if it turns out to be "Star Empire gone, will have to work on whatever old junk one finds", it's not that different from "Deadline for Romulan kaboom approaching, will have to work on whatever old junk one finds", and the DSC ships in "Children of Mars" are cleared for launch, too, and godspeed to them.

That's Star Trek: Prodigy, the Nickelodeon animated series. It was up as that for a few hours before he presumably was politely yet firmly asked to change it:lol:

Well.. For me it's an accurate rommie bird of prey .. Not a disco screwed up version.. That shows up.
Like I said before, no problem using old stuff because it's an emergency or.. That's all that's left.

Because having familiar things is more important than making sense.

We see one. If that was the only Romulan ships we saw, I’d be just as disappointed. And I’m a huge TOS fan.

Those tugs could simply be a workhorse design like the Excelsiors they never felt the need to replace.

Other DSC designs? Maybe not so much.
