Extra letters or not, they don't always have a lineage.

So those windows on the saucer, which match the 305 meter TMP Enterprise exactly, are now twice the size?
Remember the 2009/2013 debates about the Kelvinverse Enterprise size and how the windows, which would be floor-to-ceiling on the 725m ship, was somehow ridiculous until Star Trek Beyond explicitly showed floor to ceiling saucer rim windows close-up and it looked just fine?

Exactly, that and the other endless fights with a stack of evidence a mile high that some choose to argue against his very day

don't forgot that shot in Into Darkness with part of the saucer blown off showing the corridors.

Lineage does not mean "Looks like the last one." Otherwise, why does no starship Enterprise look like an aircraft carrier?!?

Prometheus was a Nebula before ;)

All very valid points. My mind was in the 32nd century thinking of a certain legacy ship with a "J" on the end that still keeps the overall shape and look of the original. I assumed ships with A,B,C,D,E,J etc after them would follow similar patterns of design.

And the bridge module to fit the Stargazer's, struts are also smoothed out and that cutout on the front of the saucer is gone.

Bill Krause confirmed on Facebook that the Shangri-la model is supposed to be a previous U.S.S. Titan. So it would come between the Loknar and the Luna, and a canon TMP-era design along with the Constitution, Miranda, Constellation, and Sydney classes.

Defiant was a Connie.. Now it's a escort/defiant class.. Name doesn't behold class of ship or look.
Even then I doubt the Shangri la class Titan lasted from 2280 to 2380.. Should be a interim ship.

If they Wanted to use a connie clone, could have named it Yorktown or Lexington. Or hell, with 7 at the lead name it Voyager A!
