Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

The top view of that mystery ship on the display that was previously blurred out (and is speculated to be the Enterprise-F) doesn’t look like the top view of the STO Odyssey class.

By 2411, the Enterprise-E would be almost 40 years old, if it was still in service. So it’s high time for a new ship :)

So... D in the museum and the brand-new F. Perhaps we'll at least see the E in the museum as well, as a new artefact that's being worked on :D

But wait, there's more! The Enterprise-D is attacked and destroyed (a second time), but not before Kirk and company Picard and company escape to the Genesis Planet war-torn planet and find Spock Beverly, and then they all escape in Kruge's Bird of Prey Beverly's ship, then use it to time travel to the 20th 21st century to rescue some whales Rios to bring him back to the 25th century so he can go back to commanding the Stargazer. After a trial in which the crew are sentenced for stealing and destroying the Enterprise, all charges are waived, Kirk Picard is demoted to captain, and given the command of the Enterprise-A Enterprise-F!

A question I asked somewhere else, but feel belongs better here: Does anybody else see a third nacelle on the leaked MSD pic?

Unless it's mounted under the ship, I don't think you're seeing a nacelle

I wonder if this Enterprise-F is going to be a 25th century take on the Connie design. That's what I'm seeing in that graphic.

I'll insert my comment from elsewhere:
Nacelles are usually, from all the MSDs we know, hidden everywhere they overlap with the hull of the ship, ie Ent D. For that reason they're sometimes even pictured separately, ie Voyager.

On the other hand, there's nothing preventing the third nacelle being mounted at the bottom. Might look really good if the primary and secondary hulls are rather flat, squished together.

Look, I'm not wishing for a third nacelle, haha! It just looks as if there was one. Somebody ask Matalas, I'm sure he'll give a hint!

There is definitely nothing preventing a third underslung nacelle. The Niagara had this many years ago and perhaps the Hutzel as well (I think I have the schematic upside-down actually).

Now, does it look good to have that third nacelle underneath? While a completely subjective interpretation, I’m gonna say “no”. :)
