Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

The Starfleet logo on the dedication plaque is also anachronistic.

Is it? We see a flashback to the Stargazer in 2353 during TNG: "Violations"; while this is a mental projection it's based on Beverly's actual memory of those events, and we can clearly see Picard is wearing a 2360s-style comm badge. While the Stargazer was likely commissioned before this logo was adopted, it makes sense to me that Starfleet would reissue dedication plaques whenever they made major updates to their "branding", as it were. We know that the Enterprise-D definitely had at least two different plaques installed on its bridge, with the second one having a lot more information than the first one and a different frame.

The ‘usual’ TNG way of stardate calculation would translate 38197.5 as 2361, which is obviously wrong. But again, the new information making the Stargazer’s launch date of 2326 seems wrong to me too, considering its ‘sister’ ship the Hathaway was launched in 2285.

First post here so apologies if I get something wrong however:

The Hathaway's NCC No of 2593 is significantly lower than the Stargazers (2893) There's no reason to assume the whole class were built in one go and perhaps numbers were set aside for them. Although I'd agree that a 41 year construction period seems a long time for a design we rarely see. The Miranda or Excelsior class I can believe. (in the real world the Burke class destroyer has been commissioning for 31 years and it's likely they will still be commissioning new ones for at least 10 more years.)

To be honest NCC numbers have been a mess since the Constellation appeared in TOS and I can't see them being resolved any time soon. Perhaps they're not meant to make sense. If they are deliberately random or semi-random it makes it harder for potential adversaries to work out the size of your forces. Doesn't seem very "Starfleet" though,

Been tooling on the Emmett Till for awhile now. Does look like Rio's ship from the top :)

Beautiful. Do you reckon this is the Curiosity class, like the USS ibn Majid?

Now THAT looks like a 25th century Stargazer upgrade.
4 nacelles, modern looking hull... less 'interruptions' to the flow like we saw on ST: Picard (less blocky)

It's nothing like Stargazer other than 4 nacelles. Don't see how it can be an upgrade

You just want to make sure you type your response *outside* the QUOTE tags for the post to which you're replying, otherwise it looks like your words are being attributed to another person (who in fact didn't say them) and you said nothing in response.

Welcome!

Okay, so "Penance" is out.
Ships in this timeline belong to the Confederation Corps of the Confederation of Earth and have a CSS prefix (Confederation Star Ship?).
The Galaxy-like dreadnought from Picard's painting is the CSS World Razer.

Thanks @Tuskin38 for finding the Twitter link!

The trailer showed a pair of Nova- and Steamrunner-class starships. Did anyone spot them in the ep?

So basically the ships we see are all Earth ships, even though they bear either a strong resemblance or are identical to Federation starships?
That's an aspect I also find strange in the mirror universe.
Either, it means there is little to no non-Human influence on Federation starship design. Or somehow the xenophobic Human societies get just the right ideas from defeated xenos to reach the same design language.

Or they just stole the designs.
