Stargazer style Robau series....

It would also be a good idea if Kirk would end up being transfered to the Kelvin in the last minute.

Who knows he might get mentioned in the movies or the TV series.

"Uncle Frank" could be pretty much anyone from a step-father, a boyfriend or brother to George or Winona. I even had friends of my parents that I called my aunt or uncle when I was younger. Still pretty much wide open.

Another fairly trivial thing the novels could answer is: What were the Kelvin's armaments? Seemingly no photon torpedoes, TOS-style phasers and odd little pop-up turrets. Were they pulse-phaser cannons? Plasma weapons? Projectiles? Whatever they were, it was refreshing to see something a little different in the movie.

^Uhh, yes, phasers are particle beam weapons. We're all familiar enough with the term "phaser beam," and the abundant visual evidence that phasers are beam weapons, that I figured it went without saying. So I still don't understand what you mean here.

I mean as described in the article whose link I pasted in the first reply, man. In short, I mean what we might mean by particle beam weapon when we say it today. Otherwise, I would have said phasers.

Maybe electron beam weapons. Maybe neutron beam weapons. Maybe even positron or antiproton beam weapons. Don't know; could be any of these particles, or even some other kind.

Since they emitted a beam with a clearly distinguished appearance, it suggested that the phasers were being supplemented by some other kind of particle beam weapon.

Oh, some other kind of particle beam weapon. If you'd said that in the first place, I wouldn't have been confused.

So what kind of stories would people want or expect from a Kelvin series (no actual story ideas, please!)? Since it's based on STXI, I'm thinking emphasis on action and characters over detailed scientific analysis of space phenomena. More along the lines of New Frontier than Titan.
