Stargate SG1 show. any fans?

A question for those that bought the complete series blu-ray set (or even the individual season sets). Was this a full remaster job? Is it leaps and bounds above the DVD's? I have the decorative Stargate box set, but am thinking about replacing it with the blu-rays if it's an increase in quality.

Based on the review I cited above, which Gateworld.net took into consideration in their own 'review', I'm going to pass unless I hear something incredibly optimistic about it. :|

It's the first time the last three seasons, which were filmed in HD, were available in HD on disc. The first seven seasons were upscaled. The audio tracks for most of the seasons were screwed up in some way, and they included the two-part edit of "Lost City" instead of the one-part movie version from the DVDs (though, they did include the 90-minute version of "Threads," which hadn't been available in HD at all unless you'd seen it that way on the Sci-Fi Channel first run; the streaming releases only had the hour-long rerun cut). I remember someone on Reddit wrote a script so that, if you had the DVDs and Blu Rays (and a BR drive), you could rip them to your computer and it'd take the good audio tracks from the DVDs and replace the bad audio on the HD versions.

The criticisms of this release actually prompted me to buy the Blu Rays that had been released of Universe and Altantis, since those shows also had issues in the new versions, needless noise reduction and sharpening and whatnot, so I wanted to make sure I got the original-quality versions while I still could.

What I loved about SG1 was it's continuity. I think it did amazingly well with it's callbacks and building on plot threads. How many episodes did something like "Solitudes" create and it was a really good episode all on it's own. My favourite episode is "Window of Opportunity" and it's not just because it's a time loop and really funny but the final moments between Jack and Malikai stretch right back to the beginning of the franchise and the core of Jack O'Neill. I also really like "Summit/Last Stand" and I love the heartbreaking ending with Elliott/Lantash sacrificing themselves. And "There for the Grace of God" is so much fun in being a pretty cool but disposable universe worst case scenario. Also Ba'al calling the President on a phone in "Continuum" and just wanting to come down and hang out. I really think if shit hadn't gone south with his missus Ba'al would have left things alone on Earth and just be happy to chill there.

As its ruler. A charming, affable overlord is still an overlord. Just because he didn't want to use massive violence immediately doesn't mean it would never occur to him later on.

I loved SG-1 from start to finish, even when it's best days were behind it. Richard Dean Anderson was one of those lightning in a bottle casting decisions. The chemistry between the main cast was something pretty special. And boy, there was no shortage of supporting characters thrown into the mix as the show expanded - the majority of which were all great additions.

Like DS9, it was primarily episodic but deftly handled multiple season / series-long story arcs - probably my favourite form of storytelling on the small screen.

(Window of Opportunity is my favourite episode as well).
