Stargate SG-1 is back on Netflix (US)!

SG-1 is still on Amazon Prime for me, for another six days.
Glad I found this thread. I’ve been rewatching the series on Prime and had no idea it was about to disappear on me. Thanks to this thread, I now know where to find it when it does.

Season 8 was weak overall but the ending gives a resolution to all the major story threads and ends with the four fishing together, so I see it as a perfect place to end.

Whereas the repilot seasons focused around villains so overpowered the only way to beat them was to find the next ancient artifact, and Vala felt over the top and forced. What made the gu’ald interesting was the stylized humor element and that they weren’t so strong they were invulnerable to conventional weapons and tactics. Ori weren’t funny and were so strong nothing short of ancient super tech could hurt them.

That was my personal reason to like the Ori, despite how painfully derivative they could be at times. The Goa'uld were a tad repetitive in terms of the heroes being able to sort out different ways to defeat them. The Ori felt that otherworldly, more powerful, that needed a better understanding than just random shooting.

That's me. The Goa'uld over extended their welcome, almost improved with Ba'al and Anubis, then slumped again. Having the Ori being overly strong was more engaging. I didn't care for Vala, largely because I was a huge fan of Farscape and Claudia Black as Vala rubbed the wrong way.

While I love the dynamic of Jack and the rest of the team, Daniel and Cameron had a great back and forth humor. So, while the Ori lacked humor I felt the rest of the cast step in to a different humor.

Mileage, etc.

I personally loved seasons 9 and 10. Especially season 9. Earth and their allies were getting knocked down a few pegs, sort of like how season 5 felt with the destruction of the Tollan and the massacre of so many Tok'ra. Earth got too cocky because of their Replicator and Goa'uld wins.

I like how they mixed Arthurian legends into the Ancient mythology.

Vala was fun. I loved her character, but I can see how she can grate on other fans.

Doing a rewatch. I haven’t watched it in ages. I noticed missing scenes in the early seasons, and blurry images the first couple seasons.

The 4-parter from S1 to 2 is so great!
I'm noticing very odd cuts though, in the middle of someone still moving, or just having said something... is that on the DVDs as well?

They seem to have cut parts of a scene in many episodes during the early seasons. I'm not noticing any cuts in the latter seasons though.

Shimerman as a Nox and Schultz as the Gamekeeper are great XD
I still remembered that Thor's riddle had something to do with pi.
When they found the energy sphere, I thought: Wasn't there an episode where O'Neill is pierced by a giant arrow of some kind? And a few min into the episode, that happened XD
It's funny how sensory stimuli can uncover old memories!

I guess the stargate on that world that got sucked into the blackhole was destroyed by now, or Dakara would be fucked when they dialed every stargate in the galaxy...

On season nine. Wondering if a Prior had visited the Aschen homeworld yet?

No lol.

oh and I think Jack is obsessed with Simpsons because it was a thing Charlie and he enjoyed when Jack was between missions.

and it’s amazing how Jack never talked about his parents. Daniel, Tealc and Hammond spoke of theirs and we’ve seen Sam’s dad obviously and heard about her mother

I started rewatching, I am on season three, episode 1. I disliked how they treated the Tok'Ra in the series. O'Neill's attitude made as much sense as blaming all Americans for the actions of Trump and his ilk. The alliance was doomed to failure, each party was as arrogant as the other.
It is showing on Sky One box set, it needs remastering.
My favourite episodes, The Nox, The Tok'ra, 'Holiday'
My favourite characters, Bra,tac, Teal'C, Selmack/Jacob, Thor & General Hammond
If they ever reboot the series, the human SG1 and the rest of the human cast should be diverse. The USAF was too white.

I really wish Stargate SG-1 did an episode like TNG's Timescape
