News Starfleet Academy Coming to P+

I’ll take any scraps of justice for DS9.
I hope they stick to only doing scraps. I live in constant "low dread" that one of these shows will try to do something with DS9 and just shit all over it.

...Like how they kinda threw the Changelings in the bin once they'd used them to eat up screen-time until the big finale. (PIC)

If that was a Jem'Hadar woman, that would need some kind of explanation, as there are none. (Per "TO THE DEATH" on the bridge when Dax is talking with Virak'ara.)

Having said that... it's been 800 years since that episode. Maybe the Dominion started to create Jem'Hadar women. Or perhaps this is the race that was used as a template for the Jem'Hadar and this is one of their women. (Like how Weyoun told Odo that the Changelings altered the Vorta from being little more than ape-like tree dwellers to what we saw them as during DS9.)

I'm still not that excited for ACADEMY, but I'll still give it a fair shake.

Speculation Only: Now that Burnham is working more directly under Kovich, I think Discovery is on super top-secret Red Directive missions on a regular basis. Maybe that's pretty much all they do now.

I bet Reno decided, "This isn't for me," and that's why she transferred to being an instructor or staff member at Starfleet Academy.

I thought Discovery was abandoned?

True enough, I HATED what PIC did with the Changelings. Working with the Borg my ass…

I never rewatched the show but I still remember that ridiculous flashback scene where Amanda Plumber’s character was supposed to have been tortured and they showed what looked like 19th century medical syringes. None of it made sense.

The Jem'Hadar are an engineered race anyway, it's not that difficult to assume that due to Odo's reforms to the Dominion the Jem'Hadar were turned bi-gendered as a means to allowing them to reproduce naturally as opposed to breeding farms.

I don't think the Jem'Hadar are like the Vorta. A species altered through genetic engineering. I got the impression they were created literally in a lab. It does make sense though that after years of reform and no longer being slaves they might have altered themselves to be different. Tht means more sexes and genders. No built in addiction to the White. Maybe longer lifespans and even the ability to reproduce through sex.

I think that happens way later, when Burnham is much older. She mentioned that Tilly was the longest serving instructor at Starfleet Academy, so I presume this takes place in that time gap.
What @Daedalus said.

The epilogue to the last episode of Discovery takes place decades later.

Judging by how Reno and Vance look, SFA takes place only a few years after everything from the vast majority of Discovery Season 5. The time between DSC S5 Proper and SFA probably matches the time that's passed in real life.

Rogue Changelings who were extremists and have their own agenda. If it were the Changelings as a whole, then I'd agree with you.

Seen the season four times.

I didn't really care about that... but fair enough. Though I'd say those flashbacks are from Vadic's point-of-view and she probably isn't exactly the most reliable narrator.

If that's Reno's classroom then I like the styling. Very 24th century Starfleet and retro but also feels more advanced.

Some random thoughts looking over the pictures:
-They're using PADDs. I guess the show doesn't want to spend money on projecting a holographic image from the badges? In universe, I guess you have to wait until you become an officer before you get the privilege of a badge with holoprojectors?
-If the memorial wall (or whatever it is) lists the full names for everyone, why is Garak listed as "Ambassador Garak" and not "Ambassador Elim Garak"?
-Is the lady Jem'Hadar supposed to be a flag officer? She has rank insignia on her collar similar to Admiral Vance's that's not included on the regular officer uniforms. Then again, upon closer inspection, Holly Hunter has similar insignia on her collar and she is supposed to be a Captain, and indeed, I notice she also has the additional shoulder insignia 32nd century Captains had on Disco.
-On a related note, that stupid plate on the front of the collar from Disco is gone.
-Reno doesn't appear to have any rank insignia at all.
