News Starfleet Academy Coming to P+

by 'villain' they may just mean Antagonist.

Saying villain gets more clicks.

The Hollywood Reporter described the character as “a man with an ominous past with a connection to one of the show’s cadets.”

I'm guessing it will be a Diviner and Gwyndala sort of connection. In fact, I'm expecting a lot of parallels with Prodigy as the show goes on.

This is true. DISCO S4’s DMA were branded as a “villain”, even though it didn’t actually fit that description on the actual show.

I could see something like this. He’s a gangster or pirate of some kind…a Harry Mudd type…who isn’t happy that his kid decided to spurn his place in the family business for Starfleet. Kind of a Spock parallel there too.

Of course it would seem the actual cadets who comprise the show's main cast are all likely to be played by low-level nobodies we've never heard of. Which probably would have been the case anyway, those few actors who are established names and within the age range to play cadets would likely be out of the price range for this show, even without actors like Holly Hunter or Paul Giamatti on the show.
