News Starfleet Academy Coming to P+

I am that guy who listens what fans think, I am aware of their heart. I can feel and see what is in their mind. Whole world is our living room. Not only few people from this forums. If you don't want to see it's all you. But I'm telling the truth.

With due respect I do not believe you. I believe you see what you want to see in the fans and to predict that based upon personal viewpoints, values and desires. You don't see the fans, because I am a fan and don't reflect what I think, feel and believe. Which makes it all the more difficult to take this as a truth, when it is just your truth in subjective abstract, and being placed in a way that says "I speak for all fans."

With due respect, no you don't.

It is in fact both, in terms of story. (and if you are going by the logic, Discovery is the prequel series to TOS (see "If Memory Serves").
In terms of production, Captain Pike and other aspects of Season 2 Discovery were spun off into a new show, Strange New Worlds. That included actors, people involved in the productions, designs, etc. It is as spin-off as a spin-off can be. Your hatred for the show it spun off of has nothing to do with it.

They actually tried to save S T D with TOS legacy. The quality of S T D did not determine the creation of SNW. Fans were impressed by Anson Mountain's performance and charisma. They wanted a prequel to TOS, which it will really be according to its essence and nature, and not according to the words of the producers, because S T D and TOS have more discontinuities than continuity.

A logical question. If the standalone S T D was so good why were they saving it with the Enterprise and Captain Pike, Spoct etc? That was all TOS legacy. Why season 2 of S T D is still the best rated among fans and critics?

What part of spinoff does not compute for you? SNW was spun off from DISCO. It's not a debatable subject. As far as the reasons they brought Spock, Pike, Una etc into Season 2, who knows? Trek likes to bring old stuff back, and in that case it worked very well. Good enough for a spinoff. Sometimes spinoffs are as successful, or moreso than the original show. Cheers/Frasier, Love American Style/Happy Days, Tracy Ullman Show/ The Simpsons. It happens. You don't appear to be able to comprehend all that, but take your time.

You know what. When I came to this forums fans in other places told me "Don't go to Trekbbs, there are a lot of Alex Kurtzman and Michael Burnham fans, not global Star Trek fans. And you know what? I didn't listen to those fans. And I'm not interested in that story. You may be Kurtzman's sinners but you are here as my Trek brothers from different world. Together we will win this even we don't agree. Me and most of Trek fans don't like 32nd century Starfleet, and you do, but it's okay. It is diversity. Diversity is thing that I respect, I'm trekkie.

Yeah. CBS and Paramount have whole departments directed towards customer research. The shows that are on the air are the one's their market research tells them to put on the air. They don't spend a hundred million dollars a season on a wild guess. While that research doesn't tell them everything (if it did, every show and movie would be a hit), it gives them a general direction to work with.

In short, you likely know far less about "what fans want" than they do.

Now, I can admit that Discovery and Picard haven't worked out for me. We'll have to see about Starfleet Academy. Not what I wanted, but then I thought Picard would be a smashing success for me and Lower Decks trash. I feel the exact opposite about both now.

Having moderated the Discovery forum since its inception, I can safely attest that the opposing camps "TrekBBS is a load of Kurtzman groupies who don't allow negative opinions" and "TrekBBS is just full of negativity and complaining and fans of new Trek get shouted down" are roughly equal in size and assuredness that they are correct.

No, you're offering your personal opinion.

And only yours.

If I were to play this game I could more credibly defend a claim to know what trek ought to be and what trek fans want than you can. And it would still be some preposterous self-aggrandizing nonsense on my part.
