No clue who the actress is, but her role is interesting. "Bridge crew" on what? A training ship? The bad guy's ship? (Early press releases mentioned a bad guy who's about to destroy the Federation!!! Sigh.)
I saw her at All In a few months ago, and I've seen every episode of Mandalorian and at no point did I realize there was any crossover whatsoever.
I mean, it's not like any of us are surprised at this point.
The end of the Federation... the end of organic life... the end of existence.

Do these 'everything is on the line' stakes enough and they become meaningless.
Quieter, more personal stakes really keep your interest. At least, for me. Having major stakes is fine... on occasion.

Let's review season arcs that didn't have bad guys bent on federation destruction: disco season 4, Picard season 2, pre dominion DS9, Voyager in Delta quad, and lower decks. Disco season 2 might count because after all it's the entire galaxy. Anyhow, point being, fed antagonist villains are pretty baked in to trek going back to TOS. LDS is the only series that pulled off anything different consistently. Disco got raked over the coals for the boring DMA, the most high minded go big sci Fi trek has done since TMP

It might be damn good. PRO ended up being second only to SNW in my tier of modern streaming Trek shows, and that just reeked of Nickelodeon kid schmaltz and creative compromises before it premiered.

The caliber of talent the show is drawing in the cast is a pretty good indicator to me that there's gotta be something special going on. And that it's already gotten a season 2 pickup before they'd really gotten into filming.It might be damn good.
