I have looked through many posts now and have noticed the disgust in the new star trek movie from the people who are the long term fans (trekkers), I just got to watch it. I know it was an action movie but this is star trek. It wasn’t that easy to screw up the story and the star trek time line but they did the movie contradicts many of the other movie and series from the past and the whole star trek universe as we know it, it don’t exist any more. If you have watched star trek movies in the past and series you will know the story lines do not add up, Oh and the 2 planets Vulcan and Romulus they are no more. The time line is no longer as we know it. There are many more discrepancies.

And these discrepancies have been explained by the writers and producers of this film over and over and over.

We need like a Star Trek XI FAQ thread explaining this pinned at the top of this forum.

Seems to me some people are confusing a few vocal posters with everybody. I'm an old timer from the NBC era, and from what I've seen of postings since Thursday night, old timers love this movie, including myself.

Thing is, I'm sick of people trying to don some mantle of authority for their dismissal of the movie (while claiming that they're not) by playing the "long-time fans on this side of the room with me" game.

Liking or disliking this movie is entirely individual - it's neither generational nor rooted in how long or how devotedly you've followed Trek.

I agree i'm old school but this is what we need a new freash approach on trek

Rebuilding Vulcan culture will be interesting; and there's no other culture I'd rather watch do it.

Vulcans are the most important aliens in Star Trek. It guarantees we will be seeing loads of them, which prospect I relish.

Even alternate it falls apart, the time line was changed 25 years prior to main details of the movie, fine. Should so much have changed, the Consitition class was already under construction by this time, and if the time line was altered then why the hell does the Kelvin have the newer deflector, being as this is the point of change, Kelvin should have looked like we expect. A Mix between the NX-01 and the NCC-1701 in the exterior and the bridge design and the corridors which we don't there time line idea fails at the focal point of the change, so even that concept is a very bad excuse, the simple fact is, JJ Abrams wanted to take one of the greatest Sersies of all times and turn it into some damn clint eastwood movie set in space, he is the destroyer of anything he touch's He has never made a movie i respect of enjoy, he is a bastard, and one that should be dragged into the street and shot, if i had his home address id throw rocks into his window. I'm already organizing a group to go into my local area and destroy this movie upon DVD release. We'd rather spend our money and buy every copy and burn it than let it continue to exist.

And I am part of a group that hates this movie, I am a follower of Cannon and the idea's laid down, and I have no respect for anyone that would dare call this movie more than a parody.

:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

Thats a good one man. I love internet sarcasm...

Oh wait you're serious...

I know this is supposed to be an alternate time line, and I hear a lot of people moaning and groaning about how the "prime" time-line may be contaminated or whatever, but quite frankly I don't care if they did reboot the entire thing. I think this is something that needed to be done for awhile now, I think they just throw out the alternate time-line as a soft blow to the old hardcore fans or something. Which, I am a hardcore Trek fan, but I like it when things get a little mixed up.

Guess I'll have to live without your respect....oh, wait - I've been doing that for 54 years.:rolleyes:

I have a few quibbles, but I loved the movie. Sorry you didn't, but then IDIC still exists, and there is a diversity of opinion here. :devil:
