Star Wars VIII release date changed....

Flashbacks, much less to that extent, would be as unnecessarily jarring as suddenly having Han Solo narrate the movie. It isn't going to happen. I can't understand why so many people seem so intent on it.

I could see that. We did kind of get flashbacks in TFA when Rey was having the visions from the lightsaber. I wouldn't put it past them to do something similar in VIII. I also wouldn't put it past them to sneak in a surprise Han Solo cameo, either with a deaged Harrison Ford, or an aged up lead from the Han Solo "A Star Wars Story" movie in one of those flashbacks.
Anybody have any idea how long it will be before we hear about the official title of Ep VIII?

We didn't learn the title for Episode VII until that first teaser trailer debuted in November 2014, right? I imagine we'll get the title for Episode VIII in a similar manner.

They've already announced all the actors in 7 will appear in 8. We already know Han Solo and Lor San Tekka will appear.

They announced that right around when the movie came out and before we all found out who died. Announcing that Ford and Sydow weren't returning would be a pretty clear omen of their deaths.

The actual announcement was that all "principal characters" were returning. With only one scene, does Lor San Tekka really count as a "principal?"

Well people were wondering how they would do that, so it is likely for the best that Ford's not going to play Han anymore.

I'm still assuming we're going to get flashbacks to the Jedi Academy, but now Han will be conveniently absent from all of them
Though I doubt Han would have been physically present at the Academy anyway at any given moment.

I noticed they also didn't mention Peter Mayhew. So does this mean Chewie is being recast for Episode 8?

He was already partially recast for TFA, so they might have decided to just let Joonas Suotamo, the guy who filled in for Mayhew in TFA, just play Chewie for all of the rest of the movies.
Does anybody know exactly which scenes were which actor in TFA? I'm assuming pretty much any scene where Chewie was up and walking or running it was Suotamo.
