He did that. If Rey doesn't then Luke fails.I hope the latter is the case. Rebuilding the Jedi is Luke's job, not Rey's.

Rey didn't steal those books and build that lightstaff to 'let it die.' She's already got her first two students, Finn and Jannah, lined up.
So, just like the EU. Got itYeah but then in 20 years Finn's kid will fall to the dark side and she'll blame herself and move to Tython or something...

Luke being dead makes it kind of hard for him to do it himself. Rey as his student makes the most sense as the next person to give it a go.I hope the latter is the case. Rebuilding the Jedi is Luke's job, not Rey's.
Luke should never have died. Neither should Han.Luke being dead makes it kind of hard for him to do it himself. Rey as his student makes the most sense as the next person to give it a go.
Everyone dies eventually.Luke should never have died. Neither should Han.
Obi-Wan was dead for less than a minute before he started giving Luke life lessons.Luke being dead makes it kind of hard for him to do it himself.
Maybe. But I would love to have such a multi-dimensional, multi-generational, perspective on the Force. The Jedi Order would be able to truly learn from its mistakes, rather than running and hiding like the last masters did. What's the point of eternal life if one cannot pass on what they have learned?Oh yeah, I know Luke will be around as a Force Ghost, but I still think you're going to want a living person in charge of the Order.
I could definitely see him pop up to help Rey instruct the new new Jedi, I just think it would be better to have a living person as the main person leading the Order.
The only thing I hope she will let go is the dogmas of both Jedi and Sith.
