Star Wars The Old Republic

I really, really loved KOTR so it's really cool that this is basically a third KOTR game.

I'm almost at Level 28, I just beat Tatooine, now it's onto to Alderaan. I end up playing the same space combat levels over and over so I can't wait to unlock new ones shortly!

My one disappointment with this MMORPG thing is I have played alone for 90% of the game. Sometimes a guy will happen to be next to me and will accept my friend request, but aside from that...
What server are you playing on? That makes a difference.

You haven't been bottlenecked yet. Just wait. You'll know rather quickly. Difficulty goes up rather sharply. For me as a Jedi, I think that happened on the red planet. I think this likely was a result of the XP reduction when FTP came into play, which subscribers get more of. That's when the game stopped being fun for me.

I did get a two month subscription... and there's been several bosses that were basically impossible and I had to go around doing other missions and leveling up once or twice in order to beat them.

Does the game notice how crappy you do and go easier on you? A lot of times I was insta-killed by the boss but then I immediately resurrected and fought him again and won. It certainly helps that he doesn't respawn with the minions he starts with.

Not necessarily, from what I've noticed. You might have just been lucky that time :) But yeah, I've used that spawning trick, which does help a lot. But they do re-appear after awhile. I remember because there have been a few times I had been taking too long in beating him due to unsuccessful tries, I'd be sent back to the beginning and have to fight a whole load of them again. It's just that they've set it to a period that's just about long enough that most wouldn't notice it.

Adds res-spawn after five minutes in instanced areas. (I think they may have increased it to 10 for F2Pers, but I'm not positive.) In most non-instanced areas, I believe it's now 90 seconds. They changed it some time ago. But it depends. Some objective elites are still on a five minute timer. And of course, the rare champions all vary. Some are on a 12hr timer-like the Sith dude on Korriban who's next to impossible to find unless you camp him during the daily server reset.

Finished the Bounty Hunter story on the weekend, which wasn't too hard given I was half way through the first area on Corellia. That's three class stories done and I also finally went through the Fatal Alliance missions (only on the Pub side) and am now up to date on the story. Now trying to decide if I'll jump back to Pub or do another Imp so I have even numbers.

Given I hadn't played the game much in the last couple of months I was a bit fuzzy on the BH class story. It got me thinking that it would be nice if there was something a bit more than the loading screen text, say something along the lines of a short "Previously in SWTOR Class..." cutscene that gave you a quick run down of the major points in the story so far. It would be nice for the more casual and returning players.

I'm on Level 31 and wrapping up Alderaan.

I've been seeing ads for this Return of Revan Expansion thing... I don't have to pay extra for that right? It's just part of my subscription?

Or just wait a while. Hutt Cartel was a paid expansion on release then after a while they just gave it to subs for free.

This, although the main benefit of pre-ordering is the 12x xp on all class missions until the new add on goes live , you can raise your characters mainly with the class quest without having to bog yourself down with planetary quests.

At least they're giving players the opportunity to experience the content, not boosting them straight to max level, right, Blizzard? ;)

^Actually it does since you stop getting XP once you're a few levels above the quest. The best thing to do win an XP boost is to keep pushing on with the story quests that are a level or so higher, as much as is possible anyway.

You still get the XP for completion I think, and you can also concentrate on exploration and the like which gives XP independently from your level?
Unless that's changed.
Been ages since I played.

Argh, Darth Angral is impossible! I need to leave the Devestator and level grind and then come back and do it all over
