Star Wars The Essential Guide to Warfare by Jason Fry

Spoilers for a coffee table reference book? What is it going to spoil? I'd recommend going to the thread at Theforce.net forum where they are most likely dissecting the book. Until then, probably will have to wait a while until people have bought and read the book. I'll probably have a review of the book once I'm done reading it in a couple weeks.

Thanks for posting the preview pages though...ooooh I love how Fry has structured this book.

Here's a review:

Here is also one of the first reviews I saw on the book:

What is it going to spoil?

How does the Firefist galaxy look like, what happened during the Pius Dea Era, how does D'harh'an look, the Hut Fleet, Sepratist Houldout after the Clone Wars, Rakata histoiry, i could go on.

^ I don't consider those spoilers myself, just content the book covers, but I see your point. The first article I posted has some spoilers if you want to check it out. They're at the bottom of the article.

Dude. The book just came out. Why don't you buy the book yourself instead of asking for spoilers or art work. The stuff on the internet is pretty much what is out there right now in terms of spoilers, trust me, I've looked. There isn't even a youtube review on the book yet. Be patient or buy the book yourself.

I finally had a chance to flip quickly through the book the other day, and from my rudimentary glance at it I was extremely impressed. Well worth the wait. If you are at all able to buy the book, go do it. It seems to be structured in the same way as a military collegiate text book, but without the dryness. It touches on pretty much everything that the description says it does as it goes through every major and minor conflict in Star Wars history. Focuses on weapons development and evolution and profiles great generals. There is a ton of awesome art work in the book as well. I couldn't buy a copy while I was in the book store, but just ordered mine this morning. I can't wait to actually read it. Before anyone asks, I didn't do a proper look at it to give spoilers, but if you're a fan of this kind of stuff, go get the book. It has already surpassed the Atlas as my favourite Essential Guide. I'll do a proper review after I read the book in a couple of weeks like I mentioned above.

Could somebody share some more art with us?

Go to Wookiepedia. Pics from these books always get a place on site quickly.

They have a pretty good image of the Lusankya vs Reaper during the Battle of Orinda and the first image of an Endurance carrier since Cracken's Threat Dossier and the retconning of the appearance of the Nebula/Defender. No surprise it is more in the vein of the Nebula SD. Though the comics have thrown a bit on that issue and now it looks like the Nebula and Defender Star Destroyers are in fact different classes with the CTD design appearing in the NJO comics.

So when does the Clone Wars end?

After the imperial campaings against them are finished or after ROTS?

Ummm...I believe it is generally accepted that the Clone Wars concluded after the Battle of Courscant which is shown at the start of Revenge of the Sith. One could even argue that they officially ended after Emperor Palpatine declares the establishment of the First Galactic Empire.

I don't know specific dates since I haven't had a chance to read the book yet, but from the reviews around the web that I've read so far some have stated that the book is basically almost like a New Essential Chronology (I wonder if we're going to get an update for that soon or not?) since it pretty much covers the entire history of conflict in the SW Universe.

If you already have the book then I don't understand why you're asking questions that I assume would be in it then. As I stated above, I believe it is generally accepted by most fans that the Clone Wars concluded at the start of Revenge of the Sith.

Are you kidding me?

From various points later in the film:

OBI-WAN: In short, they are going very well. Saleucami has fallen, and Master Vos has moved his troops to Boz Pity.

Kl-ADI-MUNDI: We have surveyed all systems in the Republic, and have found no sign of General Grievous.

YODA: Hiding in the Outer Rim, Grievous is. The outlying systems, you must sweep.

OBI-WAN: It may take some time... we do not have many ships to spare.

MACE: It is settled then. Yoda will take a battalion of clones to reinforce the Wookiees on Kashyyyk.

OBI-WAN: We are at war, Anakin.

PADME: Anakin, this war represents a failure to listen... Now you're closer to the Chancellor than anyone. Please, ask him to stop the fighting and let diplomacy resume.

ANAKIN: At last, we'll be able to capture that monster and end this war.

YODA: The capture of General Grievous will end this war.

TlON MEDON: Greetings, young Jedi. What brings you to our remote sanctuary?

OBI-WAN: Unfortunately, the war.

I don't know who these "most fans" are that somehow missed all that dialogue, but we see during the Kashyyyk and order 66 sequences that the war is still in progress.

The Clone Wars end when Anakin ( or whoever, in the novel it was the Separatist leadership ) sends the signal from Mustafar to shut down the droids.

Small skirmishes most likely did occur, I assume that Palpatine would have dispatched Vader or one of his Moffs to put these down, but the end of the war happened when Set Harth mentioned in his post. I was thinking of the last major battle, not the conclusion of the actual war, my apologies.
