Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Is anyone at all annoyed that this is animated?

I'm not. The prequel trilogy often felt like a combination of great, stylish CGI animation and lackluster live-action acting. When Yoda was outacting everyone else in the room, dropping the human component altogether seems like a natural step.

I'm not that impressed with the animation I've seen (doubtless fine for television but not a big screen release), and the rather trite sounding plot does nothing to inspire me with confidence. My expectations are, consequently, rather low.

Anikain has a plucky girl sidekick padawan who in turn has a baby Hutt sidekick who burbs and farts for wacky comedic hijinks. .

You're kidding right?

Right?

Please tell me you're kidding.

Someone please tell me he is kidding!

And to make matters worse it's Jabba's kid.

Are you all serious?

Could someone be pulling our legs about this comic relief nonsense?

Who leaked that comic relief involves Jabba's brat, etc.?

If this turns out to be true, the movie is destined to fall in the piss hole.

I'm not disappointed that the movie is animated. In fact, much of the PT was CG-animated anyway, which explains why the ships, space scenes and buildings look very much the way they did in the movies. I still think the people look too video-gamey, but I guess that's the look they were going for.

I know the Final Fantasy movie got a lot of flack, but if they had used that sort of animation with today's technology, I think the people in Clone Wars would have looked much cooler. Still, the previews on TV look halfway decent, but I doubt I'll see the movie at the theater.

I wish I were. I really do.

"A key plot point of the film will be a mission involving the Jedi with Jabba the Hutt and his son.[6]"

Its true. But I wouldnt worry. Remember the droids and ewoks cartoon. This new clone war series is meant to be for kids. Far as Im concerned its not part of the film continuity anymore than the droids or ewoks cartoons are.

I always thought that if it's made by Lucas that automatically makes it canon.

Anyway I'd like to time travel back to the exact point Lucas's balls dropped off, he grew a vagina, and I'd sell those fuckers on E-Bay and make a cool million because some Star Wars fan would be obsessed enough buy them.

Meese sosa happy to beesa heppin' da Jedi again!

Here we go again with the whiny bullshit from fans, as usual.

So I'm going to have to repeat myself again, as usual:

John Kenneth Muir On The Phantom Menace

John Kenneth Muir On Attack Of The Clones

John Kenneth Muir On Revenge Of The Sith

And this old favorite: Why I Love The Phantom Menace
Thanks for those, they look like interesting reading.

But I don't think they have anything to do with concerns about The Clone Wars, beyond the fact many are basing their negative expectations on their opinions of the prequel trilogy. I certainly had my problems with it, but I've also been underwhelmed with what I've seen of The Clone Wars so far.

here's my 2 cents which was worth a dollar before the economy tanked. This Clone Wars movie should have been Episode 2, but live action. The real Episode 2 and Episode 1 should have been scrunched together and a little shaved from each to make Episode 1 then episode 3 can stay the same and there you go 3 prequils we can be proud of. oh yeah change Gungans to Wookies and Jar Jar to Chewie and throw in Han somewhere in Episode 3 bam everybody is happy and George Lucas is not hated

^ Nope, you're correct. Maybe David cgc lives 2 weeks into the future. :)

More like a full month. For some reason that escapes understanding, the first time I learned the release date, I misheard it as July, not August. And then every other time, I just filled in what I "knew" instead of actually listening to the words coming out of the announcer's mouth. And, in a stunning display of cognitive dissonance that would be embarrassing if I hadn't ever taken a psychology class, I just assumed that they didn't have a big commercial budget, and that's why the ads still referred to the movie coming out in the future even "after" it had been released.

Oops.

fanboi.

The animation looks a little choppy. I wasn't a fan of that style on the CW cartoons, but I can live with it.

I liked the Clone Wars from what has been depicted so far in books, comics, and the cartoon so I'm looking forward to this film.

I know it's geared toward children and I can live with that, so long as it gives us a little more depth on some of the CW-era characters that got short shrift in the films, like Count Dooku.

I think people also need to remember that this movie is essentially setting up the Clone Wars TV series that will premiere this fall. It's not supposed to be a complete tale, just one adventure among the many that will be dealt with during the series. So, I'm not necessarily expecting a saga altering story here. But hopefully it will be a good one.
