Considering how quiet they've been with Episode Nine (like we don't even have a title yet) they might surprise us. Rogue One has seemingly random inclusions of Rebel materials that would be around at the time. Episode Nine could include something from Resistance for the same reasons.

I hope so. Not getting my hopes too high, but I'd love to be surprised.

I dunno about that. The finale with the Colossus off course from the Resistance rendezvous and heading to parts unknown seems like a handy way to sideline it from the events of the movies, to have these guys off having their own adventures while Episode IX unfolds. Then again, apparently IX happens a year after TLJ, which is enough time to fit in a season or two of doing their own things before converging with the events of IX.

So is season 2 going to be Star Wars: Voyager as the Colossus tries to get back to known space? Hey, didn't Ezra Bridger and Thrawn get flung off to unfathomably distant space at the end of Rebels...? (Of course, nearly all space is unfathomably distant, so that doesn't prove anything.)

I wonder if Kaz and Yeager would've had an easier time convincing Tam if they'd bothered to mention "Hey, your First Order buddies just destroyed an entire star system." But then, she probably wouldn't have believed them.

The visuals looked better than ever. It's like they pulled out all of the stops, but I think they also fixed some of the pastel palette issues.

I think it's a safe bet them being "lost" instead of going to D'Qar is only meant to account for why they weren't there for the third act of TFA or the entirety of TLJ. I wouldn't be surprised if in the first few episodes of season 2, they get Leia's call for help but can't respond, and arrive over Crait too late, or meet up with Snap & Pava's group elsewhere before joining the reassembled Resistance.

Good finale overall and I like how they combined literally flushing out the First Order with the escape plan. I could have done with a actually *seeing* how Synara persuaded her Captain and crew to get involved instead of inferring it, but it was a packed episode, so it's probably for the best.
I'm still not really digging Tam's subplot. I mean I totally buy her siding with the First Order based on her personal perspective, I just still don't buy why Tierny gives that much of a crap, especially after flushing out the spies became a moot point. I was actually rather expecting her to just get on the shuttle and leave Tam behind once the shooting started. Perhaps season 2 will get more into Tierny's motivations, but for now it feels wanting.

I still lament that so much of the first half of season one was wasted on Kaz just goofing around. I'd have much rather they spent time building up the racing aspect and the other pilots more. Sort of like how pro bending played it's role in the first half of "The Legend of Korra" season one.

Quite possible, sure. But it's fun to speculate about alternative possibilities. If there's a year between TLJ and IX, then that's plenty of room for Resistance to play around in and do whatever they want.

I imagine it's because Pyre double-crossed the pirates and "rescued" Torra from them instead of paying them what he promised, and then hunted down Synara as a spy. I guess that convinced the pirates that the First Order was their enemy. But yeah, it would've helped to see that conversation.

I figure either she recognizes Tam's bitterness toward Kaz and Yeager and wants to exploit that to turn her into a fierce anti-Resistance fighter, or she's actually as decent as she appears and genuinely sees potential in Tam that she wants to cultivate. I look forward to seeing their relationship explored more in season 2.

Yeah, good point. It's weird that they promoted this as a show focused heavily on the racing teams and then hardly did anything with them. We got that featurette about the Aces suggesting that they'd be significant recurring players, but only Torra and Hype got any actual development and the others were just background color.

Honestly, I think this show might've been better off without Kaz. Make Torra the lead, focus on her and the Aces, and show them gradually realizing that the First Order's growing influence over her father and the station is a bad thing. Have Yeager and his mechanics as supporting players and have Torra eventually realize that Yeager is a Resistance agent, then decide to work with him.

I doubt the entire second season is going to involve the Colossus lost. At most, the first half of the season might, but they are going to want to get back home if for no other reason than for the title Resistance to make sense. What exactly are they resisting if they're stuck in the Unknown regions far beyond the reach of the First Order? Also, I imagine they'll want to develop Tam's storyline and have that culminate in an eventual showdown between her and Kaz.

The season 2 mid-season break will be the Colossus receiving Leia's distress call. Season 2.5 onward will be stories that will fill in gaps and work off of Episode IX threads/ideas methinks.

Depends on when season two starts. Episode IX is this Decemeber. Remember when the first Clone Wars cartoon filled in the gaps between Episode II and III and did a second season catchup just before Episode III came out...leaving it more or less right were the movie started?

Wow, many stormtroopers died to bring us that episode.

You're probably right, but consider this for a second: The Unknown Regions are where the First Order was founded and spent most of the last three decades. It's also where the Chiss Ascendancy is and (one presumes) Ezra and Thrawn ended up.

There's clearly some story potential there; taking the fight to the First Order behind the lines, building a Resistance from occupied FO worlds.

True, and that's mainly why I suspect they'll spend half the season there. Then, in the second half of the season, they'll return to the known galaxy and start picking up on story threads laid down in Episode IX and utilize cameos from movie characters again.

Maybe they'll hear the call for help from Cait, realize they're urgently needed, and start preparing to attempt to jump back at that point. That way they can put in bits from all three films.

I wonder if Leia will send out a second message after they've run off Cait. Cause they didn't stay there long.

Can't put my finger on it but there was something missing from this finale. Will need to watch it again. What was it? I felt like there was a scene missing, a reveal missing.

One thing's for sure, S2 Kaz is going to be different - and for the better. Maybe even Neeku will learn some discretion when speaking around FO soldiers.

Was going to say that Tam isn't developed enough for us to care about her that much just yet. But on the other hand - if they are going to show Tam training / being brainwashed by the FO / sent out to blindly follow orders, that could certainly amp up the sympathy angle and get us to root for her rescue or defection. S2 might well be centered around getting Tam rescued.

Tam is 29. She has this much bio information from the Star Wars wiki, I retained barely any of this info from the first viewing:

"You! After all the work I did for you, trusting you, expecting a better life--all for nothing. You were like a father to me, but all that was a lie."
    ―Tamara Ryvora, to Jarek Yeager[src]

Tamara Ryvora, nicknamed "Tam," was a human female mechanic from Kuat who served as a member of Team Fireball on the Colossus, a refueling station in the Outer Rim Territories. She aspired to be a star racer, and saw repairing the derelict starship Fireball as a second chance at her goal, after having lost her first ship.

Tamara Ryvora was the daughter of a racer. Her father's career inspired her to become a racer herself,[5] and she left her home planetof Kuat to pursue that dream. After falling on hard times[1] while working her way up the circuit, Tam came to the Colossus station on Castilon sometime before 34 ABY. She became good friends with another racer, Hype Fazon. However, the friendship ended after Fazon earned a place in the Ace Squadron, reserved for the station's most elite pilots, and moved to Doza Tower.[6] Ryvora's racing career was derailed when, in need of credits to repair her racer, she borrowed on the ship's value prior to a race, but lost the race and, consequently, her ship.

That's surprising. I would've guessed she was about a decade younger than that.

Sorry, my math could be wrong. Wiki states she was born "Sometime after 5 ABY."

Your math is right -- 34 - 5 = 29. But that's just her maximum possible age, and I guess it's based on the statement that she never lived under the Empire's tyranny, so she was presumably born after it fell. We don't know what the lower limit on her age range is. She just seems pretty youthful to me, especially in the way she relates to Agent Tierny.

Dunno what you were missing. But we still don't know who the First Order spy is!
