If the Colossus does take off and become a mobile base, I'm guessing we'll get some adventure during the second half of season 2 and all/most of 3 which keeps them away from the main action of Episode IX. That probably gets us a "Chopper" cameo, at most, in the movie. Any chance there is a major crossover and the Colossus is used through out the flick?

Probably shouldn't rule anything out, but I'm not expecting anything other than a reference to Kaz or something like that.

I think at most we'll get something akin to The Ghost showing up in Rogue One. Perhaps the Colossus in the background as part of the Resistance fleet, or the Aces ships just randomly there in the space battle (because you just know there has to be a space battle!) Or maybe just Ace Squadron being mentioned over the PA or something.

Side note: keeping up the the timeline of events, I can't believe I'm just now noticing just how damned fast Kylo Ren went from witnessing SKB firing from deep space (yet the SK's beams just randomly happened to streak right past them?) to him and his forces attacking Maz's castle. Crazy stupid fast! I always felt that whole sequence was rather poorly conceived and now I'm taking a closer look, it makes no damn sense whatsoever!

You think that's bad, spend a minute trying to figure out how the Rebel fleet went from sitting with their thumbs up their butts on Yavin to being at Scarif in about thirty seconds.

That's less of a problem since they only have to be a certain amount of time behind the Rogue One team. Presumably the transit time is about the same for both groups. (See also: Anakin, Padme & Palpatine's individual trips to Mustafar.)

No, with TFA the problem isn't just how fast Kylo moved between scenes, it's where the hell he was in that shot where the beam streaks past (I always thought he was in orbit of SKB, but looking at the shot, he definitely was not.) Plus there's the whole weirdness with people seeing planets blow up from the other side of the galaxy.

I think it's clear that JJA wanted those shots in the movie because they looked cool, but fudged over the internal logic, which is pretty much his M.O.: style over substance (and believe me, I'm not usually one to bash JJA just for the hell of it.)

Freaking Hypermatter tearing superbeam. Lets show the whole galaxy our power by putting on a lightshow that everyone will see in "real time", no matter where in the galaxy they are. And the beam end point will somehow be magnified enough via the hyperspace tearing that everyone will be able to see all the planets be blow up.

(Did this happen in the test shots?)

Well, now, that's an excellent question.

JJ simply doesn't understand the whole scale of space thing ( nor does Rian Johnson, really, if certain parts of TLJ are any indication ). Though most obvious in TFA, this was already evident from his Star Trek films: Spock watching the destruction of Vulcan from the surface of Delta Vega, Kronos being visible with the naked eye from the Neutral Zone, getting shot out of warp and ending up 237K km from Earth, et cetera.

Do we know Hosnian Prime wasn't the test shot? The planetoids we saw on Resistance a few episodes ago were tests for the process of hollowing out the planet to make room for the weapon without destroying it.

Are you sure? I seem to remember them saying that there was supposed to be a star there but they couldn't find it. That implies it was used up to power the test firing of the weapon.

This behind-the-scenes video seems to clarify that the rubble was from construction tests, not firing tests. I figure they charged Starkiller where they built it, then moved it to another system before they fired so they'd be able to recharge immediately. It'd also fit with how much damage the weapon did to the forests around the barrel; if they'd used it before, the trees would've already been destroyed.

Wookiepedia says that the Hosnian firing was the time the weapon was used at all, but their sourcing on that appears circumstantial, so it may just mean no one has ever said there was a test-shot. But, then, backstory on Starkiller has been pretty spotty since the movie came out.

So, this seems like a pretty unlikely time for someone like Tam to join up with the First Order. You know, on the day they slaughtered millions of people. And I say that as someone who in general is okay with her joining them. They've built to it throughout the entire season. But not today. Her heart would have to be darker than Hux and Snoke combined to join after seeing that.

Oh hey look, it's a gigantic hyperdrive. How did everybody miss that?

Should we just assume that there never was a FO spy on the Colossus? Because pretty much the only realistic possibility is floor buffer guy. None of the known characters really makes any sense at all as the spy. Maybe if the FO wanted to pull some super deep undercover stuff, the bartender lady who escaped to Takodana or wherever with Hype could be pulling a super deep dive double switch, embedding herself in the Resistance, but that seems highly unlikely.

And I think I mentioned this a few pages ago, but absolutely beyond any shadow of doubt, Torra is at the top of the list for characters that need a new outfit. She is the undisputed #1.

Also, Buggles is clearly a Resistance hero, fearlessly uniting our heroes despite the Stormtrooper occupation. But when Torra sent Buggles back to their room tonight, and Buggles turned back to look at her with a sad look, did anyone else think to themselves "holy sh1t, they're going to kill Buggles!"? Surely they wouldn't kill Torra, would they? That look seemed intentional though.

Oh yeah, one other thing: Scuba Troopers look cool.

The "seeing that" part is rather vital though, no? So far as we know, she didn't witness that broadcast and once she's in the ranks, they can spin any story they want.

Honestly, I'm kind of intrigued by where her story is going as Star Wars has never really done a "how ordinary, everyday people get radicalised and indoctrinated by evil" story. At least, not on a personal scale. it's like they're going with a reverse Kallus arc.

The only question I have at this point though is why is Tam so damned interesting to the FO as a recruitment prospect? Yes, she might have some intel on a pair of Resistance agents (one of which they have in custody already) but that hardly seems to justify the honeytrap routine. I mean we've been told she's a pilor, but so far we've not seen her fly a ship, even once/ If we don't even know if she's any good, then how does the First Order?

Synara was a spy for the pirates, who were in league with the First Order. Really, though, the FO didn't need a spy -- they were infiltrating the Colossus a different way, staging the pirate attacks and then offering Doza the FO's "protection" from the pirate attacks.

I don't think they're interested in good pilots, I think that -- like any extremist group -- they're interested in angry, disaffected young people who are vulnerable to manipulation and indoctrination. Tam's bitterness about not getting to fly, and her anger at being betrayed by her mentor Yeager, are things they can feed and exploit to turn her against her former friends and into a fellow extremist. It's a smart angle for the show to take, because it's an allegory for how hate groups and cults recruit their members.

Which is pretty much what I said.
I'm just not sure I'm buying the amount of effort and focus that's being put in to just one mechanic come wannabe pilot. The FO strikes me as bulk buyers when it comes to the rank and file, usually when they're a lot younger then Tam too and there's always brain scraping for those that don't get with the program.
The only people we've known them to recruit this way has been the likes of Phasma and Kylo; those with exceptional talents. I'm not saying Tam isn't talented, but we really haven't seen what she can do and neither has Tierney.

Again, it'd be different if she had some serious intel on the Resistance but it should be clear by this point that she doesn't really know anything useful, and really, if they thought she did then she'd be strapped to an interrogation chair by now.

I think @Christopher's point that they might be trying to use Tam against her former friends is sound. Tam's friends haven't been captured yet, and the Colossus is still not under First Order control. The plan might be to use Tam to infiltrate the Resistance cell, possibly even after it is captured in case they tell her something critical in confidence. But if the First Order can't or doesn't capture them, perhaps the First Order can still turn Tam into a spy capable of linking back up with them.

Sure and my point was I don't quite buy the idea that within the internal logic of the narrative that she is worth that kind of singular effort from the FO.

I hadn't considered the possibility of them turning Tam to be a mole...it's an interesting idea, but given her character and the time frame I can't see that playing out before the season's end. If they're separated from her until next season, it's a fair bet they would have joined up with what's left of the Resistance after Crait and as such, are bound to be a little suspicious of anyone last seen boarding a FO shuttle.
Besides, as a general rule moles have to be *very* motivated, either though ideology (Tam's just not that much of a believer) or through coercion. Either way, they also need to be good had masking their true feelings, which again, doesn't fit Tam's character.

The finale was definitely my favorite episode of the season. I really like the design of the Colossus. Reminded a little of Minbari cruisers, though not as elegant. Neeku enjoys sadistically killing Stormtroopers it seems.

The finale was great. I'm gonna be really disappointed when nothing from Resistance shows up in Episode 9.
