Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

I am a little surprised to see a super weapon that looks so much like the Death Star, hopefully there will be a good story reason for that.
That tease was nice, looks like we might see footage from more than just the few scenes on Jakku and the Starkiller Base planet that were featured so heavily in the other trailers.

I doubt they'll put Mark Hamill in any poster before December 18th. Kenny Baker's omission from the credits was a little odd at first but then Gwendolyn Christie isn't listed, either, and I'm pretty sure Kenny was involved in filming the new movie even if his age and health issues kept him from being as heavily involved as he was in the previous films. I think he'll be properly credited in the film itself (as he always has been) and his name will show up on future print ads.

We've got a second clip from the trailer, and it almost features out first dialogue from the movie.

I'd love it if the new Death Star-like superweapon was really just some kind of feint by the bad guys, and the writers. Play on people's expectations, and lay a trap.

Or this isn't as big a weapon as some think it might be. As for the first audio dialogue from the film, BB-8's beeping and chirping when he rolled across the sand in the very first teaser probably counts, but this is the first character sound in a scene with a human actor!

Nice to finally see what Rey was looking at earlier! And you can also see the Falcon parked in the background of the other clip.

Gwendolyn Christie isn't credited, but Max von Sydow is. :vulcan:
Max von Sydow is a LEGEND of screen and has been starring in films for 60 years. Are you seriously complaining that he is credited above someone famous because of a minor role in a TV show?

Star Wars started as a homage to Flash Gordon (in part because Lucas couldn't get the film rights to it). Now Ming the Merciless himself is in this movie. The circle is now complete. :techman:

(Anyone who mentions Brian Blessed as Boss Nass in TPM gets projectile-slobbered on.)

How about William Hootens then? He was in Star Wars forst actually as Porkens before appearing as Herman in Flash Gordon.

To be fair, Kim Basinger as far back as 1983 had a higher screen credit than Max von Sydow did in Never Say Never Again, and he was the main villain (Blofeld) whereas she was just the Bond girl of the film. Sometimes the veteran, accomplished actor takes lower billing if they know their character plays a certain role in the film, doesn't get as much screentime and they're humble about it.

Oh, I'm sure Sydow would be humble about it. I'm just saying there's no need for anyone to be intrigued/surprised/whatever by him getting billing over Gwendolyn Christie. I guess "the kids" wouldn't know who he is whereas she's Miss Game of Thrones, but really...he's like the emeritus member of this cast. Like Alec Guinness in ANH.

I'm glad Max von Sydow was cast in this role. To me, that brings a lot of acting experience that can really benefit a cast.

Also, SAG rules and all that for billing.

Above the Line actor billing is negotiated. The order has nothing to do with experience or the size of the role. It's what the agents can get and what the producers are willing to give.

I've actually seen "Det sjunde inseglet", if you'd believe. Crazy, right?

Are you seriously complaining
I wasn't complaining in any fashion, let alone seriously.

that he is credited above someone famous because of a minor role in a TV show?
Gwendolyn Christie has already made several convention appearances and her character, Captain Phasma has been featured heavily in promo materials and merchandise, has appeared in the second teaser AND is prominent in the poster itself.

MvS, on the other hand, wasn't even there for that famous first official cast & crew photo.
