Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

22 then.

As a kid born in 85 and raised on those movies I can see how it felt longer than that though. They felt modern, timeless and old all at the same time.

Carrie Fisher is her own best publicity. She has no filter, doesn't want one and we're all better off for it.

She was reading a story on Dave last night on a programme called "Crackonory" and she was great, the best part was her saying the word "twat."

Certainly not true in my experience. Most individuals I have talked with like parts of the PT, and don't like parts. Most I know find little to enjoy in the PT, especially as compared to the originals, and are very frustrated by the wasted potential.

I don't think it is necessary to dismiss opinions as "haters" when there are legitimate criticisms in those films, as with all films.

Those critisms and feelings of wasted potential are merely an opinion.

Yes they are, and they are no less important, or unimportant, than the positive emotions or opinions.

Okay, first, you know who he probably really is? A bloke named Snoke. Neither JJ nor anyone else cares about the old EU. They spent a lot of time developing the character's look. He is not Plagueis or whomever else you want him to be. Just like Kylo Ren isn't Luke Skywalker.

Second, you can't post it yourself? Because I haven't the first idea where to look.

Third, something else spoilery for the day.

What if he is Plagues. The staff that Rey has certainly looks like Plageus' staff.. and both Plageus and Snoke are clearly Muuns

Real pic of Snoke has leaked. It's not too hared to find it. It's also not too far of from who he really is.
If you're going to keep posting stuff like this, could you please provide links for those of us who want to see. I don't really have to time to spend forever trying to search for this stuff.

Fair point. Still, the idea that Snoke is Plagueis is ridiculous.

Perhaps, but I don't think so. Plagueis was very, very powerful, and a patient being. It is conceivable that if he could manipulate the Whos in the Whoville to create life he could use them to sustain his life or even resurrect his physical body.

Besides, what sense does it to pull this from deep down the EU rabbit hole? Obviously, yes, I recall Palpatine's story of Plagueis, but why would they choose to go back to that? Why when JJ and Lucasfilm have decided they don't need to pull all that much from the overly bloated EU would they pull a character who while had certain implications for the story, never actually appeared in a movie?

I'm not saying there aren't aspects of the EU they're using. I bet there are. But a character like that? Who Palpatine said he killed in his sleep? Yeah, it would just be way too much fanwank in my opinion.

Snoke is Snoke.
Plagueis is dead.

If I'm wrong, I'll be happy to admit it. But now, I just don't see it.

Personally, I don't see what's to be gained by having Snoke really be Plagueius. It wouldn't add anything to the story and would only be a STID/SPECTRE-level "twist" that does nothing except wink at the audience. I'm assuming Disney and Abrams are smarter than that. Especially Abrams in the wake of the Khan backlash.

EDIT: This post is a response to FSM.
I doubt it very much. Like Campe98, I could be wrong, but I just don't see them going back to such an obscure part of the prequels (I know he's a big deal in the EU, but we already know they are moving away from the EU) to get stuff for the new movies. Besides, the whole thing with the Sith is that they kill each other before they take over, and I can't see one Sith just sitting back for so many decades while another took over the galaxy. Not to mention the fact that they've already said the Knights of Ren are not Sith, and I'm pretty sure having a Sith Lord like Plagueis as their leader would make them Sith. They could be lying I guess, but I doubt they would pull that again after pretty much everybody involved with Star Trek Into Darkness and the whole Khan controversy admitted blatantly lying like that was a mistake.
EIDT: This part is a response to Gep Malakai.
Not to surprised to see that. I was just really hoping her staff was secretly a lightsaber.
