Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

After all that she's been through and overcome one of the best things about these images is knowing that Carrie Fisher is back in action as a co-star and leading character of a film that will no doubt be one of the all-time biggest blockbusters. She's earned this comeback to the world spotlight and I can't wait to see her bringing Princess Leia back to the big screen after more than three decades.

Very well said. Carrie Fisher has been through way too much shit.

Thanks for the kind words, guys.

Carrie's been through some horrific things during her life and not only survived but become more courageous. She can wear any costume she likes.

I hope it's way better than this. This almost looks like a higher-budget Christmas special custome.

Wow, that other person at that other board sounds really ignorant and unfunny.

Thank goodness he's not posting that kind of junk here, and that he was posting on another board so that I may speak freely about him.

I much prefer an outfit like this over that vast and weird collection Queen Amidala wore in the 'The Phantom Menace'. It actually got distracting with her changing costume for every scene and only a couple looked practical enough that she could move better than a Dalek.

Carrie has gone through hell over the years and it is going to be wonderful seeing her return. She balanced poise with assertiveness so well.

Judging an entire costume off a hastily captured still shot is a bit problematic.

That inane, homophobic, and ridiculous comment made by a small minded idiot never needed to be repeated.

As it stands - I don't particularly like the costume, but I am thrilled that Princess Leia is back, and she can wear whatever she darn well likes. :)

I doubt this is something she really needed, or that she's just been dying all this time to get back into the spotlight. I get the impression more that she just thought it would be a kinda fun and crazy experience getting to play the character again and interacting with her old co-stars again.

Well, let's be honest. Who WOULDN'T want to be in Star Wars?

She just had one of the best chances of getting to do so (and again, for that matter!) of just about anyone.

How cool would it be just to be a background extra!!!???!! That would easily top the birth of my children. ;)

There are lots of rumors going around. None are proof until December comes around.
One is that Leia will not survive the prologue having died following the birth of her child(ren) as either a prisoner of the remains of the Empire, or in the crashed Star Destroyer on Jakku. Meaning she's been dead for years and only seen in flashbacks or background informational story material (like the bits in Star Trek (2009) dealing with USS Kelvin, or Kirk and Spock as kids until we get to the "present")

Han Solo dying is also possible to hand over the Falcon to the next generation. I'd rather he live, because Han Solo is a fun character.

The only one that probably needs to live on is Luke, and only because someone has to teach these kids about the Force.

We would like our old heroes to live. But at what cost to the story? This is a tale about the next generation (of Skywalkers).

That just depends on the story they're trying to tell. There's no reason they can't be alive and be secondary to the new characters.

I know I'd love to be a background extra in a Star Wars movie, even if I had a lot of makeup and prosthetics on my face and the only person who knew for sure it was me was, well, me. I've known a couple of people who were background extras in big Hollywood films but nothing on the global-blockbuster and pop-culture-phenomenon level of the Star Wars franchise.

Or the new characters could die and we could have Luke, han and Leia in all three movies. I honestly hope no one dies, but I'd prefer one or more of the newbies to die than one of the big three. While I think the new characters will be great, I'm not excited for Episode VII because of daisy ridley & co. We've had three SW movies without Luke, han and Leia. I'd definitely like to see as much as them as possibly, with the new characters being of secondary importance to me. Again, I think the new guys will be good, they're just not the main draw of the story for me. The "new generation" is fine, but I'm excited to see the greatest generation :techman:
