Welcome Star Wars Fans!

Feel free to discuss the upcoming film or anything related to it here, including all rumors, wild notions and spoilers once the film is released.

May the Force be with you!

Dangit! I forgot to add a poll.

Hopefully by time the actual film comes out we will be over 8,000 and I will create a new thread then.

Okay, to start this one off: Luke Skywalker is not Kylo Ren. It's a super-popular fan theory, but it's not true. Kylo is a Skywalker, though. The rumors/leaked plot points indicate he's Han and Leia's son (thus making him Luke's nephew).

We also haven't seen any of Luke in the marketing because he's apparently barely in the movie; he shows up for a short scene at the very end. Luke's backstory, as related from multiple sources, is that he founded a Jedi academy sometime after ROTJ and it was later attacked and destroyed by the Knights of Ren, the group currently led by Kylo. After the academy was destroyed, Luke went into hiding and that's where he is for most of TFA's runtime.

He's not evil, he didn't fall to the dark side, and JJ isn't pulling another KHAAAAAAAN mystery box twist. Sorry everyone who thinks otherwise but you are wrong.

Whew. Felt good to say that. :p

Yeah, way too soon for a grading thread. Probably best to just have this as the spoiler-heavy thread and start an actual grading thread with a poll in a few weeks.

As for the "Luke is Kylo Ren" theories, yeah, that's a load of bull.

D-

This movie was terrible. It was almost two hours of talking, debating courses of action, and pontificating about the "promise of humanity" before a technobabble deus ex machina solution. It was like watching a Trek episode. With lightsabers. And midi-chlorian-fueled superblood.

This was not the real Star Wars of Lucas' original vision. He must be rolling over in his grave.

Well, I haven't seen it yet... but this movie is a 10 out of 10 and it was the most magical experience I've ever had at the cinema

Surprisingly popular bull, though. It's everywhere.
Yes. Jesus, I thought it would die a quick death after the trailer came out, but I was wrong. More and more people are latching onto it despite it making ZERO SENSE and the fact that we see Kylo without his mask attack Finn. That's Adam Driver's black hair...not Mark Hamill.

Kylo Ren is NOT Luke in disguise. I want to post that on every Youtube, fansite, and blog post I see perpetuating this nonsense. But I fear this drek will be like a plague until the film is released, and then all the people who believed it will feel like true idiots.

Agreed - I said it before.

It's Grando Calrissian and Palpatine is a clone all over again.

Hell - it's probably Super Shadow, trolling us all Snoke-like from beyond the galactic rim!

Some of us are just old enough and smart enough to remember it from before.

Plus, yeah, Adam Driver's stupid hair is CLEARLY visible as thick and black at the back!

...Because their guess is a patently ridiculous load of bull?

Yeah, once again, it's just a movie.

Part of the fun is making patently ridiculous guesses. I think somewhere along the way, people forgot that things like Star Trek, Star Wars and superhero movies/TV shows are entertainment, they're suppose to be a fun diversion. They attach a seriousness to every aspect of it.

Kinda sad.

It's not true Star Wars without the potential for twincest.

Seriously tho, I have the bad feeling they won't introduce anything truly new - the trailers make it seem like more or less a remake of A New Hope. I'm still hoping for some interesting new force abilities like invisibility. But I guess they can just use it to sword fight & throw rocks per usual. I always imagined that a young Yoda could turn himself invisible & fly & read minds & stuff...turns out he could just throw rocks & sword fight. Magical.

Kylo Ren being Luke Skywalker hit me as the height of stupid fan theories. Godawful. Considering how great a villain Mark Hamill can play, the idea of putting him behind a mask makes it even stupider.

I haven't been too excited about this film from the trailers, but the spoilers I've read for it do sound pretty intriguing, although this very much feels like part one of three as opposed to the starting films in the other trilogies. Not a bad thing! Just an observation.

I liked the trailers I've seen. It looks like this movie has more heart and soul than the prequel trilogy. It also looks like Abrams hasn't gone crazy with the special effects like he did with Trek and like Lucas did with the prequels and the remastered originals.

Kylo Ren's skinny arms immediately disproved that theory anyway, lol.

I looked up who the characters were because before I saw the international trailer, I thought the black guy was Ren. I was way wrong.

I'm looking forward to the opening title sequence in XD and reading what the scroll for this one will say. They always do a good job setting up the movie and we do have quite a few years of background to catch up on.
