Star Wars Episode 7 title revealed - "The Force Awakens"

Sadly for the E.U. fans, if there's any truth in the rumours about what 'The Force Awakens' is referring to, everything from the novels is binned. There's been talk of using some popular characters (but not the plots) but even that looks unlikely now...

Quit whining. It's not Attack of the Clones.

If you were responding to me, I'm O.K - I don't like the E.U. !

If you weren't - ignore me...

I first heard the title and thought "cool!". Then... I dropped in here, heh. Seems as though cynicism is almost mandatory.

Seems to me most people are just having some fun with it rather than seriously whining or being cynical. At the end of the day it's just a title and doesn't affect the outcome of the film (unless the studio screws up and causes a bad promotional situation like Tom Cruise's last film which started as All You Need is Kill based on the book and was renamed Edge of Tomorrow for the theatrical release and then sort of renamed for the home version which had the tagline Live-Die-Repeat promoted more heavily, causing confusion).

Me, it just struck as sounding sort of like a coffee commercial slogan.

^ If Rockapella is in the movie, it deserves to win Best Picture automatically. :rommie:

I think it's a weak title, but so is 'A New Hope.'

I kind of suspect this is meant to parallel that. To sound more like a setup than the story being propelled forward/ending, like Empire/Jedi.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens
Star Wars Episode VIII: The Empire-In-Absentia Takes Another Crack At It
Star Wars Episode IX: The Jedi Are Getting Too Old For This Shit

ANH totally is a weak title, and it's never grown on me, unlike TESB. Granted, it's too soon to know, but I like the theory of a parallel in titular structures with the OT.

I don't mind the title, I think it fits in pretty well with the others. The big thing that caught my attention though, was the fact that they don't have Episode VII anywhere on the logo.

The Roman numerals are starting to get too complicated. :rommie:

Besides, what happens when they get to Episode Ten. Imagine Locutus's avatar then. :alienblush:

Regarding the lack of "Episode VII," it'll still be there in the opening crawl, they're just going back to the OT style of marketing the films with their actual titles, rather than the PT style of emphasizing the episode number.

They'll just do what the NFL is doing. Instead of calling the fiftieth championship game Super Bowl L (following the tradition of using Roman numerals for every game), they're calling it Super Bowl 50.
