Star Wars Clone Wars Season Premiere

I really enjoyed Assassins. It definitely captured the feel of the prequels and classic trilogies, with a touch of the Manchurian Candidate.

I liked the Ahsoka/Padme interaction and Aurra, though not in it for long, was awesome as always. I liked Ahsoka's pissy "Her" response to Bail being surprised the the assassin was a female. And we got a Qui-Gon reference...always good.

I missed the Qui-Gon reference? Also, have we seen Ahsoka and Padme be this buddy/buddy before? Ahsoka was referred to as Padme's friend in the episode prior to this, which surprised me as well.

Padme's first speech to the conference talked about her experience in TPM and the loss of a Jedi Master.

Good episode, but I would have liked for them to have a bookend with Anakin talking privately to Padme and expressing his discomfort at the fact that his padawan had a strong vision that Padme was in danger, while he did not. Perhaps with some implication that he would work on improving that skill in the hopes of protecting Padme in the future, which of course would lead to his similar visions in 'Revenge of the Sith.'

I would have much preferred that instead of actually having to pay a visit to Capote the Hutt, the walking (slithering?) stereotype who has no relevance to the films apart from being Jabba's uncle. They could have just mentioned he was responsible after returning to Coruscant. Personally I thought the one seeking vengeance was going to be Nute Gunray, but I guess that would be a little too obvious and repetitive.

I know I probably shouldn't but I find him humorous, I don't mind him in small doses.

The ruse with the lov..er,decoy droid made me wonder what happened to Padme's handmaidens.

It's hard to reconcile this Anakin with the PT Anakin, I like this guy and he seems a lot more together. I've grown to like Ahsoka (even if it's weird that she sleeps fully dressed) and like the character growth.

Well, the idea was to have Padme actually give the speech herself while not being in the hall. If it had been Sabé (Kiera Knightley's character who doubled Padme in TPM), then she might've been able to recite a speech Padme had written, but it wouldn't have been Padme herself speaking to the group. Using a droid let her speak directly through its comm circuits. Also, it's ethically preferable to using a live human as a decoy for an assassin.

Personally, I was expecting it to be Threepio under that hood. I'm disappointed it wasn't.

It was better than the last two episodes. At least I was actually engaged in the story!

I agree with that, it's just the need for a decoy made it stand out that she used to travel with some.

Might have worked though he'd go into full diva mode after getting shot. :)

Yeah, and that's why I'm disappointed! ;) It's always cool to listen to Anthony Daniels doing his thing (which is why the preview for next week's episode has me interested).

Heheh. Ahsoka's wardrobe never ceases to amaze me. It doesn't matter if she's meeting with a Duchess, teaching teenagers in a school, going to a Mandalore prison, or attending a political summit on refugees. She still barely wears any clothes. There's actually a very amusing scene in a Clone Wars book, No Prisoners, where the ship's captain (Paelleon actually) tells her to put on crew uniform, pretty much telling her she looks indecent.

Speaking of prisons, the one from last week and the one on Coruscant are pretty cool.

They said TCW would actually return in 2 weeks, Chris. They always take a break for the Halloween weekend with Halloween programming.

since she expected to have to spring up at a moments notice, it makes enough sense.

Her abbreviated costume is part of the reason I think she'll survive and be a character in the live action series. At that point, her age will be mid to late 20s and combined with her costume it will be like Aayla Secura all over again, and they cast a voice actress who could play her in live action. I may be wrong, but all the elements are there.

Plus didn't Padme's double get blown up in ATOC?
