Star Wars Books Thread

A Canadian couple got the New Aftermath book early and are talking about it on Reddit.

JarJar Binks shows up in an interlude

Well, damn. I think this is the first time that character has been featured in a post-prequel story. Seriously, Legends didn't even bother to do that.

I'm onboard for this. Was always curious what happened to the character. I hope that the character is treated as a character and the scene isn't used as a jab or scathing protest to the character's existence or something.

Spoilers about the above

Jar Jar entertains refugee children at a orphanage. Adults don't like him because of his role in brining Palpatine to power

Do we know for sure it's legit? If so, I'd actually be curious to read that, I've often wondered what became of the spoiler.

Well, the book's out next week, so it's not outside the realm of possibility someone could have gotten a copy by now. Besides, it seems an odd thing to lie about, especially at this stage when the lie would be exposed so quickly.

That's never stopped anybody before...

Some more info from the book, bigger spoilers

The Emperor could sense something out in the Unknown Regions, that not even Vader could, and he had observatories built on several planets in the galaxy, including on Jakku to look out there. There were sith artifacts in these observatories.

A new novel has been announced, set right after Rogue One. Its called Star Wars: Inferno Squad

http://www.starwars.com/news/exclusive-new-novel-inferno-squad?cmp=smc|813407126
The description of the book:
The Rebellion may have heroes like Jyn Erso and Luke Skywalker. But the Empire has Inferno Squad.
After the humiliating theft of the Death Star plans and the resulting destruction of the battle station, the Empire is on the defensive. In response to this stunning defeat, the Imperial Navy has authorized the formation of an elite team of soldiers, known as Inferno Squad. Their mission: infiltrate and eliminate the remnants of Saw Gerrera’s Partisans. Following the death of their leader, the Partisans have carried on his extremist legacy, determined to thwart the Empire — no matter what the cost. Now, Inferno Squad must prove their status as the best of the best and take down the Partisans from within. But as the danger intensifies and the threat of discovery grows, how far will Inferno Squad go to ensure the safety of the Empire?

Inferno Squad versus the Partisans? Sounds like a classic Star Wars battle in the making.

This seems really cool. I've liked books focused on imperials before (like Zahn's Allegiance/Choices of One which not only hand Mara Jade as Emperor's Hand but also had a group of Stormtroopers as main characters), so I'm definitely interested in this.

Huh. I'll have to check that out from the library when it comes out. Could be interesting, but I've never been that much of an Empire guy. Guess that means that Saw's group survived the destruction of Jedah.

There were probably more scattered around the planet and possibly on other worlds, too. Only the area around Jedha City was destroyed, not the whole planet.

Considering that fiasco with Disney's laughable abuse of the DMCA over a Facebook photo of a Rey action figure that a Walmart accidentally sold too early, it's surprising TPTB didn't clamp down on the spoilers for this book that was somehow obtained before the official release date.

Kor

Don't some people usually get official A(dvanced) R(eader) C(opies) before the release date? Or do they not do ARCs for high profile stuff where they'd be more concerned about spoilers?
EDIT: Star Wars.com has posted Scorched, a short story that ties into Bloodline. Since I haven't read Bloodlines I don't want to read the story yet, but I thought I'd go ahead and post a link for those who do want to read it.
StarWars.com said:
Scorched, set before Bloodline, follows pilot Greer Sonnel as she enters a legendary race — which, if she survives, may change her life.
