News Star Wars Andor anticipation thread

I liked what we got with Andor enough to be curious to learn more about his backstory in the series. The fact that we didn't learn a ton about him in the movie actually makes me more curious to see the series.

Rick Famuyiwa may direct some of the episodes, since apparently Disney and Lucasfilm were pleased with his directorial efforts on The Mandalorian. The article also mentions that he may direct some episodes of the second season of The Mandalorian.

Sounds to me like they may try to keep a lot of the same people working on their different shows.

Filming is hoped to begin on October 7, which I would file under the category of sooner rather than later. So that's cool.

Also, there have been a couple articles floating around lately about how disappointed Diego Luna was when he realized he was done with the Star Wars universe. Like this one:

Unsurprisingly, he's looking forward to the tv show as much as any of the fans are.

Had to have been when he read the Rogue One script.

"Okay, so far so good...

...SHIT!!!"

Lucas is kind of an unlikely choice for what's probably going to be a darker show IMO. But definitely will drum up excitement.

Absolutely nobody else seems to be confirming this, so it's probably bullshit.

"So, the first thing we've gotta do, is cut that scene in Rogue One where Cassian kills his informant, because an honorable hero would never do that. The Disney+ version can be changed right away, but we'll also need to recall as many unsold discs as possible."

... Seriously, who actually wants this?

I think it'd be interesting. Despite what petulant detractors might claim, Lucas seriously pushed the limits of what a family entertainment could do (on Cartoon Network no less) so I've no doubt he could have fun with a darker tone.

That said, I hiiiiiiighly doubt this is real. Pretty sure he just very recently came out and said he'd be willing to come back, if and only if he had full creative control (and I can't blame him.) Talking over someone else's project just doesn't seem to jive with that notion. He's more likely to start over from scratch with something, or maybe at most, dust off 'Underworld'.

Yeah, and I also can't see him working on a show focused on a character from a movie he didn't work on. Now, if this was Obi-Wan series, I might find it at least a tiny bit more plausible.

Better movie.
