star trek XII Mudd & Doomsday

Why not combine 2 story lines. Harry Mudd and the doomsday machine.
The Harry Mudd character could help keep an otherwise tense plot from too much drama. With the right casting for Mudd and of course Commadore Decker it could be a great film. Kirk and crew rescue Mudd just before his ship is destroyed by the doomsday device. Harry later tries to take over the enterprise. Decker in shock and of no help to Kirk could be used by Mudd to further his goal of taking the enterprise. There are a lot of possibilities. But two story lines together make sense for a feature length film.
I would keep Kahn and Klingons  in reserve for XIII.

I don't know about the Doomsday Device as by TNG / DS9 relaunches, we'd have a way to dispatch the thing into a Hur'q / Kam'Jathae-style subspace rift, & that would be that.

I don't see the Doomsday Device having a crew or A.I. capable of decisive evasive action in the event it encounters an equal force such as The 'Borg or a natural phenomena such as a black hole, or an artificial construct such as a Romulan "Red Matter" device, etc.

Secondly, it would be much more interesting to have a nu-BSG style rebooted concept of Harry Mudd. A wily female Captain of her own "Pirate" freighter or Kivas Fajo-style 'collector' vessel. An athletic, no-Bulls**t style Barb Wire meets Nelly Fertado style all-business character.
