Star Trek really needs to settle down and find a nice dramady. Raise some kids, ya know?Jeez I feel like a Jewish mother relative to this film...![]()

I was shocked until I saw your last sentence.Decent showing for a Wednesday!
Hopefully it will pick back up in a huge way over the weekend.
Went into my office today (usually work at home) and EVERYONE was talking about Star Trek.
Of course, I work for a software division if IBM....so the geek quotient is pretty high. But still...
Wondering, Do "dollars" equal "greatness"? Or a lack of other movies.
Plus these threads remind me of the weekly ENT viewer numbers and ratings.
As usual for Trek movies, I'll be happy to add the ST:XI DVD to the shelf with I-X.
Those threads must have been pretty depressing.Wondering, Do "dollars" equal "greatness"? Or a lack of other movies.

Hahaha...yeah, I used to start up those ratings threads back in the day.

It will be in 11 more theaters this weekend, not that it would make any difference:

Yeah, too bad Wolverine won't be losing its massive theatre count until next weekend when it will be harder for Trek to pick up many. With two major releases and a medium-sized release accounting for 10,000+ theatres next week, there won't be a lot of theatres for Trek to absorb. Plus, Trek will be losing its 150 or so IMAX screens.

Can't they extend the contract to enable another week of showings?
Not sure. I doubt they will though since they've been pre-selling tickets for NATM2 online on places like Fandango for a while now. At this point, it doesn't look like a limited engagement so theatres could keep NATM2 until Transformers comes out. There has to be a specific amount of time theatres are contractually obligated to show the film (which is the case with regular theatres as well, and is usually 2-3 weeks). So after that, they could pick up Trek again.
Those numbers aren't correct. TMP was the #2 movie with 80+ million.
I think they're right. The problem is TMP was released in December 1979, and in those days movies usually opened smaller and went wide a couple of weeks later, so a good bit of TMP's business (esp. the repeat business) was in 1980.
No, that chart is wrong. It says specifically that it's not based on calendar year. Kramer vs Kramer was released later than TMP and made most of its money in 1980. btw, TMP didn't open small, it set an all time record for the weekend box office.
Dollars=sequels.
That is all.
