Which prequel story is the best? The new movie or the one in Shatner´s novel Collision Course?

Could Collision Course have worked as a movie?

Read it. Enjoyed it.

There are similarities between the two versions of young Kirk.

I think the novel could have worked as a movie. I liked the back story of Kirk's adventures on the colony.

I meant to read Shatner's book; I either already bought it or it's in my Amazon wish list. I saw them discussing it in Trek Lit, and it did sound good.

I read it, it was okay though I thought it was slightly annoying that most of the conflict in the novel is because Kirk has frequent brain farts that cause him to make bad calls of judgment though.

I think one problem with making it a movie would be having to cut stuff from it since the book is pretty bigish
