Star Trek Vanguard: Storming Heaven - Back Cover Copy

David Mack

Writer
Rear Admiral
The S&S website, Amazon.com, and my website have all been updated with the final back-cover copy for my upcoming novel Star Trek Vanguard: Storming Heaven
"I WAS THERE UNTIL THE END, MATE.
THE BITTER, BLOODY END."

Vanguard is under siege.
Surrounded by enemies, Admiral Nogura sends the scout ship Sagittarius to find an ancient weapon that might be the Federation's only hope of stopping the alien threat known as the Shedai.

Qo'noS is wracked by scandal. Councillor Gorkon fights to expose a Romulan plot to corrupt members of the Klingon High Council, only to learn the hard way that crusaders have few allies and even fewer friends.

Tholia teeters on the brink of madness. To prevent Starfleet from wielding the Shedai's power as its own, the Tholians deploy an armada with one mission: Kill the Shedai — by destroying Vanguard.

THE EPIC SAGA'S
EXPLOSIVE FINALE
The book is scheduled for released on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, as a mass-market paperback and an eBook.

As we get closer to the finale's release date, I will be posting some behind-the-scenes glimpses into the creation of the series, its inspirations, and paths not taken. So be on the lookout for some Vanguardian goodness in 2012!

:)

We love you for writing them, and giving us these heads-ups and previews, yet we hate you for knowing the ending before we do, and keeping us hanging for the next three months.

You see our dilemma? :p

(Really looking forward to this!)

David - I may be a bit premature here, but is there anything in the pipeline to replace Vanguard ? Another mini series (for want of a better term) or TOS spin off ?

Another mini-series please. But IMO,topping Vanguard would be quite a feat.

(sneaky throwing down of gauntlet...

I have no idea what might be in the pipeline post-Vanguard. I suspect the one extra slot per year will simply be filled by one of the many ongoing Star Trek literary series. I'm just happy that I got to finish up what I wanted to do in both the Mirror Universe and Vanguard. Where it all goes from here, who knows? :)

^What he said. Both series were favorites of mine. I can't wait to see how Vanguard ends, but I'm thinking this might one of the few times I will actually avoid spoilers, so I can go into SH completely fresh.

It's Mack, we know how it ends: in fire. ;)

Well, I for one have not read any of the non Mirror Universe Vanguard novels thus far. Perhaps based upon the illuminating teases contained within yonder blubs it would behoove this fan of high octane plotting to delve into this fascinating era described therein.

And I should try to get there before its completely destroyed...

I'd recommend them. :) For someone such as yourself who enjoys the "interstellar politics" side of Trek, it should indeed be rewarding. No Cardassians, of course, but plenty of Romulans, Tholians, and intelligent Klingons (along with some not so intelligent ones ;)). Lots of focus on the matters of colonization, expansion, empire, rise-and-fall of nations...you'll like it.

Indeed. I've download the first of this series unto my humble kindle. (besides I've always see the TOS Klingons as slightly less magnificent cousins of the Union's finest).

(Sorry for writing like this ladies and gentlemen, I'm in a kind of pompous mood this evening;))

^ I'm heartened to hear that you'll be reading the series on your Kindle; it will be no problem for you to get the third book in eBook format (as opposed to paperback, which is either difficult or absurdly expensive — don't ask, it's a lonnnnng story).

^ I'm not even sure that's it. That might be part of it, but there are also many related picayune issues within the S&S hierarchy, all of which have contributed to the original mass-market paperback edition going out of print, and the overpricing of the later print-on-demand trade paperback edition. I have made several attempts to get this fixed, but I have been unsuccessful so far.

How did Amazon get its remaindered copies of the POD edition, anyways? Did Amazon just overorder and lower the price internally, without going through the publisher's remainder process?

(Buy now, only $12 each! ;))

^ Truthfully, I have no idea how any of that happens. I just write the books. Everything after that is someone else's job. ;)
