That's San Francisco there in the backgound, isn't it?

It is. You can see the Golden Gate Bridge, below and to the right of the drilling platform. The Presidio (Starfleet Academy) is at the near end of the bridge and Starfleet Headquarters is across the bridge on the Sausalito side.

Red circle - Academy
Green circle - SF HQ
Yellow - Alcatraz

Isn't the Presidio the current location of ILM / Lucasfilms???? Guess Nero doesn't want any more versions of Star Wars either...lol

It is. In one of the other shots found in both this trailer and the Super Bowl spot, you can see a couple of hangar-like buildings behind the flying shuttles which would seem to occupy the same spot currently occupied by Lucasfilm's San Francisco campus. Jury's still out on whether Nero's an OT Warsie.

Both the color and texture are awesome.

Colours are great, but I still don't like the texturing.

I'm thinking he's just become airborne, and the chair is several feet behind him already. It's only the perspective which makes it look as if he's kneeling on the chair, which is in fact several feet behind him in the shot below:

This is a pretty clear shot of the Kelvin bridge and uniform.

Isn't that George Kirk?

very. I am very hopeful for Pine as Kirk. I always thought I'd like Quinto as Spock better, but Pine's shaping up nicely. I still have a few qualms about the cast, but I'm hopeful!

I can't do screen shots so everyone will have to check this out for themselves.

1- As Kirk takes the command seat. It looks like McCoy starts to say "What happened?"

2- As far as saucer separation goes, at 1:46 seconds in you can see iught behind Uhura a sign that reads Emergency Evacuation.

Just my .02 worth of observations

If Kirk had a younger brother/sister, s/he would disappear from this timeline, since Jimmy is born like 45 seconds before dad gets blown up. But George Jr. is an older sibling.

Sorry to double post, but I believe I can slightly make out an F next to the L, which makes me believe it's Mayflower.

enhancing that section of the image reveals "Flowe"

I'm certain it is the debris from one USS Mayflower...

Good work on spotting the possible "F", but in my humble opinion the alledged "F" is kerfed too far from the "L O W E" to be part of the name. I think what you see as an "F" is simply damage to the ship.

I think it could be the 'L O W E L L', perhaps named for the astronomer Percival Lowell:

The "F" looks very distinct to me.
