Star Trek tops $200 million

Both Transformers and Harry Potter will almost certainly make more money the Star Trek.

I can take or leave HP. Waited for DVD for all of them. But when I saw the trailer in the theater this weekend (when I was easily talked into a 3rd Trek viewing), it looks damn good, more than a little dark, and likely to pull a lot of fence sitters into the theater much the way the Trek trailer did. I don't do the box office prognostication thing, but HP looks to make money but the wheel barrel full.

I remember Tootsie and Gandhi competing for Best Picture that year; Gandhi won -- didn't it make money?

I am so bored with almost anything Harry Potter at this point I'm not even going to rush to see it after it hits DVD. It can wait. J.K. Rowling's universe started wearing thin with me long ago.

The books started getting stupider and stupider after the fourth. Lame prose, cardboard characters, unlikely plots. Meh. And don't get me started on that crappy third film. What a waste of resources that was.
