Star Trek Timelines

Eh, I guess I'm just comparing it to the similar Star Wars game I play. They managed to hide the farming behind actual gameplay so you don't notice it as much, it's a much better game

Me either. And I fully appreciate that I wouldn't be into Timelines if it wasn't Star Trek: Timelines.

Not nearly enough crew storage, and not paying to keep upping it. I've thrown away way more crew than I currently have. Only saving spots by freezing the couple max characters I have, but then it means I can't play my best people. Very frustrating that there's no way to get DIL through the game itself, just paying. So locked out of anything of real interest, which makes me less interested in spending, so I just mindlessly farm away for 5 minutes and then close until the next day.

It really IS just farming. It's an area this game completely fails at compared to others; there's not really any game to PLAY, it's Farmville: Starfleet
And now they added 5 more slots, 45 standard.

not enough, but it definitely helped. I'm at 55, so bought the two they offered for non-cash purchase. They release characters too fast, needs to be a LOT more space to store them. Especially if it may be months before you get a chance at a second star for them, i've had to toss lots of high end characters because they were taking up space and not coming around to be upgraded. When it's them or a character you already have 2-3 stars for and have started to level up...

While I'm complaining, the ship battle system is annoying me as well. At some point, I didn't play it for a bit, because I'd already maxed out the Romulan ship it was rewarding me with at the mid level, and that led to just forgetting to play the upper level. After 2 weeks, it boots you completely.

That's fine, I get it. but when you try and play again, there's no way to get to anyone at your level without weeks of grinding. I'm in a Lvl 10 BOP, and fighting Lvl 1 ships with minimum stars. At like rank 135k, and need to get to 106k to get the minimum reward, 42k to start to get more than one shard. Looks like it takes 600 to hit lvl 1 of that Klingon ship. You can only move up 500 spots per battle. Too lazy to do the math, but looks like about 60 battles to get to the entry rank, 190 or so to get into the one that gives 3 whole shards. Sort of a barrier to even bothering. I'm wiping the opponents on autopilot, ought to be a way to challenge in bigger jumps if you're geared for it, no? Even if I do a few attacks a day, I'm months from getting anything. Not a great system. Should be some reward if you're trying to level, and just give more when you get higher. Months of fighting for zero reward, and the minimal reward after that is pretty poor

If it's not your thing, don't play it. I rather enjoy the ship battles. It's the closest you can get to Star Trek Legacy or Bridge Commander on Android, two of my top Trek games.

the battle is 'ok', just annoying that I have to move up like 40k points 500 at a time. By fighting people well under my ship level, so autopilot wipes them out before i get a scratch. Would be nice to try and challenge for a spot near my actual level

^^
I ignored the ship battles a bit as well once I got a ship that could handle the main missions on elite. Now that the 3rd tier schematic rewards have changed to the otherwise unobtainable D7 though, I've at least made the effort to rise up the ranks to increase my daily reward, and I'm now at least going toe-to-toe again with opponents in comparable level ships. Still, the Arena isn't why I play Timelines - if I want to pilot a ship, I hop onto STO instead.

They increased the rewards in the Arena recently, which has actually made it more worthwhile playing. I'm now getting 60 T'Ong schematics per day at around 20,000 level, so was finally able to build the ship this week.

I won't advance any further without upgrading my characters though, and getting more fully fused 4 and 5 star characters. But the ship battles are still a very minor part of the game.

It's still diverting enough for the commute or sitting in front of the TV. I like that they've introduced Discovery characters pretty seamlessly. There's a month-long mega event, so you can get a 4/5 T'Kuvma if you play a bit of each week's event.
