Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

neither. weirdly.

it is an entirely new sculpt except for the deflector dish. sadly the saucer is still missing the 3 lines that should run around the edge. and they messed up and gave her the same three phaserbank placements as the 09/into darkness model where the beyond model should have four.

but there are about a dozen improvements over the original kelvin timeline model in the sculpt and paint application. my original model from what? 2013? was really poorly constructed and this new one is solid. the beyond model is a huge step up.

I was able to see that they painted a different impulse engine on the rear of the saucer, but I was unsure about the other details you had mentioned. Thanks for the clarification/heads up. I'm still going to mark it down as one to get. I would have ordered it already, but I caved in to Eaglemoss' temptations via e-mail to subscribe to their Discovery collection.

Risk-free trial and I get the Shenzou for $9.95 with free shipping. Subsequent issues are $45.00 with free shipping according to the e-mail. I have no idea if/when they will ship the Shenzhou/Discovery. I've been charged the $9.95 for the Shenzhou and have an order confirmation number, but no shipping notification or anything like that. I figured I would give it a week or two given some of the comments I have read in this thread, but I have yet to receive any notification after about a week. (I can hear some of the laughing at that comment given the horror stories I have read from others here.)

I must say overall I am kind of annoyed in general with online ordering because I am also waiting for an unrelated e-mail from a different vendor about a 3-D bluray copy of The Last Jedi I ordered from Zavvi...

Patience is a virtue....

Bah humbug.

And those who bought it on the UK site got an email saying it was accidentally listed as for sale and should have been listed as a pre-order. It will not begin shipping in the UK until June. As a result, it may still be some time before it is offered on the US site.

Yeah, it’s weird that they got the top of the wider impulse engines and that teardrop shaped panel line correct, but screwed up the phaser banks.

XL Voyager arrived (along with the duplicate Vahlkass and E-J). Very nice model; solid build. The detailing on the metal pieces are extremely crisp. Certainly not round and dull like what's been seen on some of the smaller models (the Breen warship was a good example of that). Decals and paint look fairly well aligned. Kind of wish the engines moved, but I can live with it.

i sold mine on eBay. might've been the fastest turnaround i've had with a model.

moveable engines is a challenge somebody should take on.

Should actually be doable with 3D printing. If this model is based on the original one from the show, the components should be separate pieces in the mesh to allow for them to be printed independently on the master. More base cost, though.

someone in the UK on the facebook fan group claims to have been told by customer service that discovery issue 3 is in the warehouse and shipping tomorrow.

take it with a double dose of skepticism that comes with the unreliability of “some guy on the internet” and the unreliability of eaglemoss customer service.

but maybeeee...

360 turnaround of the XL Enterprise-A and I can tell from a mile away that Deck 1/bridge dome combo is too tall and the saucer is lacking its gradual slope.
How does this happen?

The NCC-1701-A on the engines and the text on the sides of the saucer look way too large.

Oy vey! It happened because they got the TMP refit mixed up with the upgraded pre-Trumbull Phase II filming miniature with the box rear. Notice it doesn't have the spotlight areas around the perimeter of the bridge, either. Really hope they fix all that.

But how, though? The CG model they use for reference doesn't have that. It's the same model they use in the SOTL calendars which might be the same as the Director's Edition CG model IIRC

The only thing I can think of is that they really screwed up bad and that a lot of people weren't paying attention.

We should be getting this:

Instead, it looks like we're getting this (the old South Bend toy Enterprise based on the pre-Trumbull configuration):

At least it's not this:

... which is the original Phase II bridge that instead later made its way onto the Bozeman:

huh.
Eaglemoss is IMO the absolutely BEST in creating screen-accurate models, they usually nail the proportions, sizes etc. And painting is also better than most others (window alignement excluded). Considering the massive size of their collection, and every 2 weeks a completely new model, it's a miracle actually.

But damn.
They consistently seem to be getting the TOS-movie Enterprise wrong. In all their iterations and various models. Just...how?

Yeah just saw that. Bridge and B/C decks are still totally wrong but it looks like they tried to hide it with a "correct" paint job. At least up there - the windows around the circumference are also woefully incorrect. Really hope this is a "beta test" model.

The Defiant does look nice, though! :)
