Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Looks like the Ten Forward and similar windows are much better modelled. However, I have no idea of the size of the model from the linked image as I don't know the size of those other figures. Something like eight times the volume (twice in each linear dimension), perhaps?

You're not the only one so some guys in Facebook tried to guesstimate based mainly on the size of the base and the Mega version of the TOS Enterprise. Here are their results:

All I can say is WOW!!! :luvlove:

Indeed. I'm very much on board with these. Just pre-oredered the oversized TOS-E last week as soon as it popped up on Eaglemoss' store. Can't wait to see these monsters on my shelf!

re: the next Mirror Universe special, the ISS Defiant.
I don't really get it. When did this ship ever exist? The one Smiley and co built in DS9 Season 4 for the Terran Resistance? So in the episode the ship didn't have the Terran Empire markings on it, or was called "ISS" but this is. But why? Was this intended by the producers but they just didn't have time/money?

It's been a while since I've rewatched any of the DS9 Mirror Universe episodes, but the Resistance weren't about bringing back the Empire were they?? IIRC they just wanted freedom from crazy Klingon/Cardassian Alliance. If Smiley and co's plan was to bring the brutal, crushing, evil Empire back to glory I doubt the likes of Prime Sisko and whoever else would have been so willing to help them.

Seems a pointless model to me. Are they just gonna re-release every single Starfleet ship now, slap a Terran Empire logo on it and call it the ISS Whatever?

The "ISS" apparently comes from barely-glimpsed signage on the interior set. Other than that, the mirror Defiant had no insignia on the hull or had the same as the prime Defiant due to recycling stock footage. It certainly did not have any Terran Empire symbols on it, the way either of the mirror Enterprises did.

IIRC the TOS ISS Enterprise never had Terran Empire logos anywhere on the hull until the remastered discs came out. They just used the 3-footer orbiting in the opposite direction. The logos only appeared on the interior turbolift doors and on the uniforms.

That's what I remember too...

^ It wasn't the Rebellion's intentions to bring about the Terran Empire resurgence. But they connected with the only military tradition they know - Imperial Starfleet.

In the Star Trek: Mirror Universe novels (specifically Rise Like Lions), the Defiant used without prefix, and later becomes "free starship Defiant", which it remains after victory. In the novella "Saturn's Children", Generals Bashir and Zek have more Defiants built and specifically give them the Imperial markings, unlike Smiley's ship.

In Star Trek Online, Smiley looses and the Terran Empire is reborn, with no lesson learned. Imperial ships appeared dark and purple at first, then in classic yellow, and by now (Admiral Leeta's reign) are red-marked.

Personally, I prefer the ISS Defiant over a marking-less Defiant.

Something else: I modified my 3 Krenim temporal weapon ships (Annorax-class science dreadnought in STO) by putting crystal-looking plastic deco thingies into the top of the "telescope head". That spot is empty in the model but filled with a blue-purple focusing lens in the episode.

Because I like variations, I went for blue (as seen on screen), teal (bright and shiny) and red (to suggest an evil mirror universe counterpart).

It's a cheap mod - all you need is the proper glue and those 99p deco crystals. They can be easy removed again if you change your mind later.

I've also been thinking hard about trying to build a USS Yeager, but I'm not sure the cut-off Voyager saucer really fits onto the Maquis raider.

Oooh, that sounds cool! Got any pics?

I hope that works: https://mobile.twitter.com/MarkoNolan/status/816580164029186048

UPDATE: I modified my 4th one with pink. This time, I was able to put a little deco crystal into the base of the telescope as well.

Last time I was in a British Forbidden Planet was in late December. I'll keep an eye out for it next time I go there. I'm hunting down the ships of Series 2 of Cinemachines (Alien/Predator).

UPDATE: Just scoured a Forbidden Planet in Manchester. No sign of the Big D, other then the Diamond version (refit) and as Monitor Mate.

I'm sorry if this has already been asked but did someone access the digital version of the Eaglemoss issues? I tried several times but with no success. I wrote to them twice and got an answer that the problem would be resolved, but it hasn't.
Thanks.

Yes, subscriber-only. I accessed mine once, but since I had the magazines already, and they're bigger than any tablet I could access the digital versions on, it seemed kinda pointless.

OTOH, as I fill up my sixth binder of magazines, I notice that they take up a lot of space... maybe I will revisit the digital thing, if I can still find my access instructions.

Quick question: Does the NX-01 Refit with a book/magazine? Big so, is it print and/or PDF?

I'm not a subscriber but am interested in that particular model.
