Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Actually I prefer the wings straight out configuration, idealy they would have made them movable, then this would probably my favourite model.

Movable would've been cool (same for Voyager) but I imagine that would've been a bit more difficult to build, expensive, and prone to breakage.

I finally giving up getting the remaining ships in the collection(I have issues 1-34)newsagency are so far behind I don't know if and where they be getting any in.

Well, the moment I've dreaded since I started collecting these last year has finally happened: One of them broke.

The Equinox fell off a desk and the right nacelle came off. It doesn't look like any plastic broke, but it's loose and won't really stay on when I stick the connecting plastic piece in. I'm guessing it was glued in. Any suggestions on what kind? Something I could find at a hobby shop, maybe?

Cyanoacrylate. Commonly called CA glue. You can find it in any hobby shop in various thicknesses and curing speeds. The well known "Crazy Glue" is a form of it. (although not a great formulation. The stuff in Hobby shops is generally better). don't apply it from the tube onto the model. put a bead on or in something and use a toothpick or pin to apply it.

Okay, thanks. I'll go shopping for it tomorrow.

Maybe I should bring it to get a professional opinion.

I received an email letting me know about the NX-01.5 refit pre-order, and their link takes me to the UK page. When I selected the US store, it shows the item, but not listed as a pre-order, so I done went and bought it! Hope to see this soon!

Yeah I think the NX-01 refit became available in US store on 4/1. I ordered one and a binder, which they amazingly seemingly got a fresh shipment of. Hopefully it is shipping soon.

I bought the Antares the other day. It's frankly not that exciting a ship, but it's nice to have a contemporary to the 1701. I always wondered why the ship didn't have a "USS" prefix before the name. Someone should really ask the Okudas about that on FB or Twitter.

And as a sidenote, despite my clumsy gluing effort (including my finger being briefly stuck to the model), I'm happy to say my repair efforts were a success and my Equinox is good as new!

The Antares didn't have USS because it was a civilian freighter. Not a Starfleet military vessel. Technically if anything it should have had the ECS designation. Although nobody dreamed that one up until Enterprise.

Eaglemoss did do a major screw up on that one and left off much of the upper section printing and markings. It should have had the name, registry and some red pinstripe markings on the top. Somebody makes and offers a small decal sheet to correct the omissions, for the dedicated purists.

I got the NX-01 refit on Friday, excellent model and everything, great scale and also just so awesome for them to have done it. I do however find the design of it a little, odd... I just think it's nowhere near as sleek as the original NX-01 design.
I also don't believe it would have really featured in a Season 5, given how the show's budget was slashed each year I doubt they'd wanna redo all the reusable FX shots.
And again it would seem strange that Starfleet had basically already mastered the 1701 design like 90/100 years before that ship even launched

I don't think it was planned to replace the NX01 in season 5. I think there were plans to use it in an episode or two. Maybe as a time travel or flash forward type story. Probably sitting in Space Dock, much as Drexxlers art showed. I seem to remember him saying that much in some Internet posting.

Although I doubt it was that much an issue of not wanting to replace stock fx shots. By the time Enterprise rolled around they were not recycling that much. Mainly just some flying and banking shots against a blank star field. But Enterprise was all digital. All CGI. The expense there is to create the 3D model, and the background art. But once those to tasks are done it is far far easier to swap in and out new assets. And given how gung ho both Eaglemoss and Polar Lights have been to make the ship, leads me to suspect that the 3D model was made. If you look at the ships or the versions of ships that Eaglemoss has made, most had on screen 3D models at some point (typically late DS9 or Voyager), and those 3D versions are what we have gotten models of. It's why much of the TOS stuff has been largely based on the reworked HD remastered version of the show. It's far far easier for Eaglemoss or Polar Lights to work from the digital 3D models to 3D print a master, than it is to scratch make a master of a subject not covered in the 3D asset library.

So, I would really like to get an extra binder to put all my "extra" magazines outside the normal subscription line, but every time I look at their site, it's always out of stock. Anyone had any luck getting extra binders?

I actually managed to get one last week. They must have got a shipment in and sold it out again in a day or two.

I've just been putting my Special magazines into my regular binders as I receive them. Of course all of my binders are full currently and I have 5 homeless magazines, but it will resolve itself in May when my subscription sends me a new binder.

Good thing I should be getting my tax refund next month, it's going to be an expensive month for subscribers:
1. Regular Shipment
2. Binder
3. Special

yay! My backordered NX-01 Refit just showed up. And the verdict is... Wow! This is by far the best looking most detailed and gorgeous looking of the "Specials". It stands leagues above the JJPrise and company.

I find only one negative. On mine the printing on the top side cargo bay doors is slightly off. Each one being printed slightly more outboard than it should. But honestly that is a minor quibble given just how much and how detailed the printing is on this thing. My only other gripe is the main deflector could be a bit more copper toned than it is. It is a metalic but it is more orange than metal. Everything else is fantastic.
