Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Crying shame we'll never see further adventures of Captain Rios of the Stargazer. (sigh)

Never been a fan of the four-nacelle configuration. I can see Captain Montgomery Scott shaking his head and tutting.

The models do look sweet.

My understanding is they’re using the same design team so that the collections are compatible.

Hopefully they’ll work a bit better at having the paint masks fit with sculpted details, Eaglemoss was never that great at it, which stood out even more when they started going with the larger sizes.
Yeah I think Ben Robinson is involved. It wouldn't surprise me if they are using the same factory in China too.

Do we know what size they are? The website says 7 - 10 inches, which I think is the scale the midsize Eaglemoss ships used e.g. the Discovery line.

I heard the same thing too. Midsize is a good compromise for these going forward and makes good business sense from MR's standpoint.

The small "box scale" size of the original main subscription line was just simply too small, IMO, and most of the "XL" and "Special Issue" models (with a few notable exceptions like the Reliant) seemed to be nothing more than up-scaled versions of the same smaller ships. One medium-sized scale allows them to focus a little more on detail without breaking their bank in R&D, and ours in purchasing the finished product.

I'm very much looking forward to these.

I dunno, 50-60 bucks seems about right for the mid sized and 80 seems about right for the XLs. Maybe about 5-10 bucks too high. Still, zero chance I will subscribe.

**edited to add…I just got the Fanhome e-mail. You can get the Titan for 45 bucks (US) if you pre-order. So I guess that’s what I’ll do. Although it’s unclear if you are pre-ordering the subscription or just the Titan**

That said, having Protostar, Voyager A and the fugly Enterprise F be XL’s only is not a great choice as it means I will almost certainly pass on the V-A and E-F. My not quite canon version of the E-F will have to suffice.

If the pre-order is for the subscription, I’d probably cancel after the Stargazer if that’s the 2nd ship they will release and not one of the XLs. Then buy on a ship by ship basis. Although I misread the initial article. 95 bucks for an XL for non-subscribers.

I dunno if I want the Protostar THAT bad.

This is the link to the collection’s PDF: https://d24udp600h4lxn.cloudfront.n...es-version/st-boost-final-low-res-version.pdf

I’m trying to register for the sub but accidentally registered for the US site.

Edit: so the total of confirmed ships is:
USS Titan-A
USS Stargazer
USS Farragut
USS Enterprise-G
USS Enterprise-F
USS Voyager-A
USS Protostar
USS Dauntless
SS Eleos XII
Shrike
USS Eaves
“an entire fleet of 25th century Starfleet ships”
Unspecified Lower Decks ships.
Edit: USS Aledo NA-01

Ships that I would like to see announced as well:
USS Voyager-B
USS Excelsior II
USS Archimedes
CSS World Razer

They don’t ship to Canada yet. So I either have to wait, or find a reseller.

They made the nacelle pennants on the Farragut red. They’re grey in Season 2 and in STO

I'm not going to do a sub like this ever again. I did that with EM to get a discount on shipping, but the model releases for subscribers were always several months behind main store availability, even after they opened up shipping centers across the pond state-side. That just simply decreased individual package shipping time, nothing more. Worse, I wound up missing a bunch of models towards the end of EM's life and wound up spending extra on eBay to get those missing pieces at exaggerated rates (still haven't gotten them all and they're even higher in price now, if they're even available any more). This effectively zeroed-out any potential savings I may have accrued from a subscription. Zero sum game.
